Babys!

mmmm, a betta sounds a tiny bit borig tho, hows about neons instead of head n tail lights:

- 2 schwatz corys - 4 inches
- 5 neons - 5 inches
- 1 honey gourami - 2 inches
- total: 8 fish - 11 inches (1 nch over but........)

Why dont you kick out the cories as theyre not that suitable for your tank.

Neons are very low waste producers so you coulg go with 5-6, you will have to cycle the tank first though, or they will die. Some people have been abled too do it though, depends on your dealer and if they have good fish. I think you could do the shoal of neons.

I think the honey gourami will be good, youll have the top of the tank covered. Make sure the flow rate isnt too high for the guy and give him some floating plants.

This would be a good stock up, but you could keep your cories. Its a toss between 2 cories and 1 gourami, or 3 cories and no gourami.

There wouldnt be much space for 3 cories though... this is hard (lol)

6 neons, 1 gourmai and 2 cories seems ok, peple will disagree, but i think 6 neons will produce very little waste and its just a matter of do they have swimming space? Youll also need too watch the paramaters.
______

Now, I have heard bettas have an excellent personality, people come from miles just too get them from my lfs and they go like cookies!

Qays the betta option sounds good but the honey, corys nd neons sounds cool to...dam this is hard!

1 dwarf puffer. You need 10gallons for 2 if im correct.

Theyre excellent fish though.

My only problem now is, like ive said a bazillion million times. the otto's need an established tank (6 months) to survive, they need algae aswell!

Dwarf puffers are big waste producers too. Youll have too keep on water changes.

yh iv just read maintenence is very hard, i knwo about ottos i wud add them after 6 months!!

question, do neons like fast current? o qays the current at themo is really powerful with bubbles coing out the filter nozzlle (looks cool but dont think fish honey gourami will like it)

the slow current looks rubbish on the tank tho, its not that powerful just disrupts the surface but there are dead spots were the current doesnt go, wat do u think?

+ i just know that if i go and i see a really nice betta i will want it !! lol ur saying 6 neon not 5 y?

coz there'll be hardly any difference.

As long as you have surface agitation in one side of the tank, its fine. People keep bettas with no surface agitation

so iv made my decision:

- 1 Honey gourami = 2 inches - (male)
- 6 Neon tetras = 6 inches - (?)
- 2 Schwartz corydoras = 4 inches - (?)
- Total: 9 Fish - 12 inches (2 inches over surface area calculations but neons are low watste producers)

adding fish:

- 2 schwartz corydoras - already in tank
- 1 honey gourami = 2 weeks time
- 3 neons = 3 weeks time
- 3 neons = 4 weeks time

...so im waiting for approval?? :good: Thanks everone for putting me straight!!!!

I personally think that tank is overstocked with all that.
Although neons are low waste producers, they are very energetic fish.
I think (personally) you need to drop the gourami.

Please someone correct me if i am wrong on that.
And under no circumstances should a tank have more fish that surface area allows!
Less is always more, especially in a small tank case.

ok hows about drop one neon, i need the gourami it will be cool so:

- 2 corys
- 1 honey
- 5 neons
= 11 inches

Tetra-man, if you had done your research, you would know tetra's really need to be in a group of atleast 6. They are schooling fish, if they are in a a too smaller group them become nervous all the time, so 6 is the minimum.

And even if you could drop one neon, the tank would still be overstocked.

You ever need to lose the tetra's or lose the gourami, no question about it.

how did you work out your surface area?

in inches - lenght x width all divided by 10

is how it should be done.

yeah i agree aswel drop the tetras or the gourami.

mmm, i would go for a betta but my lfs dont sell them and the one that does there always dead in the betta barracks
jay jay i did that and it sull came to 9.9 inches

but if i drop he gourami it will just be neons and corys.........
