hey, I'm assuming that my other post was deleted, and I think that not too many people got to read it as I only posted it this morning so I'll post it again (sorry Moderators, but I feel the people should hear this, please leave it up for like 2 days so most people can read it... PLEASE)

Anyways, I am fed up with all the people who post on this forum complaining about unfair treatment of fish, or too large of feeder fish and then they post the link to that site... such as this one I ran across this morning, club.6park.com/upload/up5/326.jpg <---- PLEASE DO NOT VISIT AS TEMPTING AS IT IS!! I feel that if we don't visit the sites these people set up than they will become bored with their site and pictures because minimal people view them. Also to all those who post the youtube or any other media systems videos of piranahs eating extremly large feeder fish, YES WE KNOW IT'S CRUEL AND DISTURBING!! but hell if you watch that video then that makes the person who made the video want to post another one to see how many views it gets... It's natural that Piranahs eat smaller fish, and sometimes even bigger fish but when you post it on the site and say you "accidently" came across it, then you just encourage others to view that video and the person gets more hits then he/she posts another one to see if it gets as many hits!! Also, don't claim to accidently come across these videos, it's not possible with 90% of search engines, you need to be more specific than anything, so the only way to see a video like that is pretty much typing in "fish eats bigger fish" or "Piranahs feeding time"... If anyone else agrees with me that the pictures of distubing videos and pictures of fish should be deleted as soon as they are found, please post bellow...

Thanks,

I'm not quite sure what your little rant is about but people dont post links or pics to say how cool they are they do it to show how cruel they are and to educate others on the proper way to care for their fish.

Sure its inhumane, but honestly its part of fish behavior, it happens in the wild and in some cases of seeing how a predatory fish reacts to a larger fish in its range is interesting. Does this make me cruel and heartless? No, it means I'm interested in the behavior of the fish I keep. I don't think its wrong to post it, I find it fascinating. A disclaimer should be posted, if you don't want to see it, don't click the topic.

Most of these pics vids would never happen in the wild.

Is it not interesting to see how a predatory fish defends/hunts? Even a larger fish, sure it may be cruel, but its interesting to see a predatory fish at work..

It is yes but thats what nature shows are for, I have no desire to try and recreate something like it at home because I like fish and treat them equally.

Dogs eat rabbits in the wild but you dont see people popping into the pet shop for some feeder rabbits do you?

I think its a lot different.. There are a lot of dog shows, dog information and behavior is much more known. How many shows do you see specifically on a specific type of fish? I haven't seen one yet.

Interesting in the wild, yes, because the prey always has at least a chance of escaping. In a tank, it's chances are precisely zilch.

That is kinda the point of the feeder fish? To feed the other fish, or use it to study its behavior. If that is so wrong, then surely you must be vegan because eating a cow is just as bad.

There was no problem with your previous post itself - it was removed because the thread turned into a flaming session and became a complete waste of space, something that is far too common at the moment.

There is no problem with you re-posting this and it will not be deleted at all if the topic can be discussed in an adult fashion. However bear in mind that the last one got 319 views and 32 replies so i expect most people have said what they wanted to say.

I think we're missing his basic point....

All he is saying is that by going to view these images or videos, that in by doing so will encourage the posters of said imagaes to carry on & do more of the same, that regardless of what you think of what you are looking at, you are encoraging them.

And I agree with that.

It's a bit like terrorisim: Q) Ask yourself: Would there be any terrorism if NO ONE was allowed to report on it - if there was NO media coverage?

Posting the link on your own thread saying don't go to it seems somewhat strange.

The statement unfair treatment of fish is a little to broad also, many threads on this forum are people complaining about someones unfair treatment of fish, such as overstocking.

If you do not want to see a disturbing picture, do not click on it, quite simple.
