ned to ask a quick question about my dogs eye before I go up to emergency one wih its consultation fee of £100

what happened mate?

no idea but its very cloudy, vet on phone said leave it after giving a good clean but its not looking nice. my dog is happy enough though wagging tail, eaten half my steak and wanting walk when i get up. theres a vet by me open in morning so i'll try that

id wait as it doesnt seem threatening, and as long as it's not in a lot of pain... probably poked himself in the eye with something. my sister's boston terrier had the same thing happen...her eye went all cloudy and it turned out she poked herself with some prickers.
good luck with your dog.

You don't mess around with eyes - prompt treatment could save the dog's sight if it's anything untoward. Vet now!

You cannot get osmo-cyber-diagnosis. This is your dog, your responsibility and if you can't afford it you shouldn't have it. Sorry I know that sounds harsh and rude but your dog has some sort of infection/issue with his eye and he needs a proper looking at. It can wait til morning and you will probably find it's something rather simple like a hair in his eye but it really irritates me when people have pets they don't want to spend 'too much' money on.

Please don't let this topic turn into an argument folks, or it will be closed.

Simonas, I have moved this to 'Household Pets' section, as its not fish related.

BTT

If it doesn't seem to be bothering him, I would not take him in as an emergency. Just schedule a vet appointment and take him in ASAP.

at what point did i say i didn;t want to spend too much money on

I'd rather not spend £100 on vet bills. Is that odd? I can afford it cos I get a better than average wage but I can't afford to splash the cash

If you look at original post you'll see I went to vets tonight and rang emergency number and spoke to my vet who knows my dog as he does all boosters etc. I don;t scrimp on vets bills and if you also read my earlier post properly you will note tha there is a vet open in the morning and he's going there as advice from my vet was it can wait till Monday but I'd like to check tomorrow.

Osmo cyber diagnosis? no just other peoples opinions on top of that of the vet I spoke to.

Please read the post before you start flaming Mel, your experienced enough on this forum to know better thanks

Simon

I agree. I've never messed around with any eye issues. One of my dogs has had eye ulcers 3 times, and it started out with a bit of cloudiness. At first it didn't seem to bother her, but progressively it became very painful. They were able to put some sort of dye in her eye and shine a light in there to see how large the ulcer was. It can start out from a simple scratch on the eye. Good luck! Hopefully it's nothing serious.

2 of the times I have no idea what caused her eye issues, but the 3rd time she actually poked herself in the eye with a thorn from a bush in my back yard. Let me tell you that thing was pulled out of the ground by end of night!

same thing happened to my sister's Boston...thorns.

I'm a Vet tech. The eye just became cloudy out of no where? Is it tearing up at all? is he rubbing it? What do you mean by cloudy my 15 year old dog has cataracts they look cloudy. Is it only a small couldy spot? where on the eye is it? Does it seem to be effecting his sight? How old is your dog?

If your dog hurt his eye at any time this could be his eye healing. The cloudiness you see if fluid build up in the between the layers of the cornea.

does your dog have dry eye?

Lots of times eye problems indicate another problem going on. Glaucoma is an emergency its is painful and left untreated can cause the dog to go blind. diabetes will cause cataracts to forum quickly. Has he been drinking more then normal?

If your dog is not in pain I would wait a day. If it gets worse over night then you need to see help quick. BUT if its not getting worst and not bothering him wait.

Could be an infection.
There are so many things it could be no why to tell unless its looked at. Get him to the vets as soon as you can.
