a lot of the bigger canister type filters have "spray bars" / "rain bars" , to spread out the return water... I personally like the water falls that come from my hob filters, but a rain bar is a good option for a canister, if you want quieter water...

I was looking at a spray bar to cover more equally across the aquarium. Noise isn't an issue though. The duck bills are so direct that they give a good bit of flow, but distribution I feel is limited because of how directional they are.

I liked the waterfall too. It was peaceful to me. Wife hated the noise. Always a harder struggle when a SO is involved haha
