Pampered Pets was a local fish/pet store in Ithaca, NY. It was a nice store although the fish selection always seemed limited. I got to know Gene more through my daughter and her rabbit obsession. Anyway, Gene decided to retire, lamenting that nearly 50 years in the business was enough. Since he was leasing a store in a mall, there wasn't really a business with property so he discounted his inventory and shut the store down. I got some fish food and a couple of Angel fish.
