ive had this piece of wood in my tank for over 3 years and its just startin to go a little green on top and like small green mushrooms? there also on the spraybar
firstly why now? nuffin has changed still clean the tank around 50% every 5 or 6 days!
but i was thinkin whats the best way to remove it?
as i like my tank spotless ive never even had algue on the glass not even a spot in 3 years

would the algue die if i took the wood out? the wood is massive and very heavy thou

I guess you mean Algae :shifty:

If it were me then as long as it doesn't completely ruin your scape I would take out the wood give it a good scrub and maybe pour boiling water over it. While it's out of the tank it is a good opportunity to vac where you can't normally get too. Check also that sunlight isn't landing on the place where this algae is growing although if it is just on the top then how long are your lights on for?

Just how bad is it....photo? Maybe a light scrub in situ is all you need? Hows your Phosphates?
