Agressive Or Community?

As i plan to get a bigger tank i was just wondering what you lot have had most fun with.
I've seen a few amazon biotope set ups with discus and i think they look amazing so im swinging that way.
But i also love big community tanks i've seen with lots of shoaling fish.
And i've grown fond of oscars too.
SO MANY CHOICES

Not sure really mate. I've get plenty of room and im willing to spend the cash.

Personally i prefer community, but if your talking about something HUGE say a 12"x6"x4" (LXDXH) then it would be a waste and stupid to not go with monster fish.

What type of plec is that in there? Do cichlids not bothers plecs?

No, big plecs are just about the only suitable tank mates for aggressive cichlids. Plecs are armour plated, often with spines and very rough skin, so they're inedible and too slow to chase for fun. My cichlids just ignore him, they treat him like part of the furniture!

too slow?? plecs have to be one of the fastest tropical fish people keep! they bloody fly round the tank if another fish has annoyed them

I dont agree with this statement. I think a community in that size tank would look amazing.

why not get the best of both worlds, with a nice aggressive shoaling caracin. you get the predator side, and a nice interactive shoal.

12"x6"x4" that's a very small tank 6" means inches . Did you mean 12'x6'x4' now that would be huge because that would mean Feet.

I love my south American cichlids and catfish. That's just me . As for the kind of fish It depends on what size tank you will get.

I still have no idea what i'm going to choose though haha
I guess i'll keep my eye on the discussions and see what intrigues me the most.
