In my 260L tank I have 1 common goldfish, 2 fancygoldfish and a plec

common = 24cm

Plec = 17cm

Fancy's = 10cm each

including tails

Now to me the plec is starting to look a little scary he hadn't grown for ages and the seems to have put a spurt on and I am worried about him sucking onto the common goldie as she/he likes to sit just above the large java furn watching everyone and I have read that they can suck onto large slow fish .

Also can everyone hang on for 2 more years till a larger tank can be got something around the 6-8ft range?

I was thinking adding a fluval fx5 might help the situation currrently running a 405 fluval would the piping just switch over as it goes through the tank bottem.

Common goldfish aren't slow moving they are very fast when they want to be. The fancies depending on species will be the slow movers. Goldfish live for 20+ years and will have growth spurts progressively through their lifes so provided you can get them a tank within your 2 year limit no significant damage should be caused. Why not run both? Goldies are very messy fish.

the fx5's tubing is 1" and the 405 uses asmaller diameter,so it wont just swap over

i presume you have a fluval vicenza?

I know goldies should be fast but I must have the worlds laziest honastly he/she does move slowly, the fancys are usually first to the food

yes

I had a vicenza 260 and i cant remember if the Fx5's 1" tubing will fit them bits coming from the tank into the stand.

I have recently upgraded from a 405 to a fx5,im well happy with the Fx5.

If 1" tubing wont fit the vicenza parts underneath,use the blanks that came with the tank and blank them off,and use the fx5 as normal up and over into the tank. Or use both for super filtration!!
