about catfish...

i found out more information about my ashara catfish and its scientific name is Leiarius marmoratus

anyway how can you tell if you're catfish is pregnant??

correct me if i'm wrong, but don't catfish have relatively flat underbodies??

well i noticed mine has a huge "belly" and the thought of it being pregnant crossed my mind, but i don't know

They may carry fertilized eggs but unless there is a male they wont get fertilized.

Pimeloid catfish cannot get pregnant, they are egg layers and the eggs are fertilised externally.

How often do you feed your catfish? Large predatory pims like these only need to be fed twice a week and should be fed enough each time to make their belly swell like they have swallowed a large round pebble, then dont feed them again until their belly has shrunk back to normal size.

hmm that must be the reason. i've been feeding it 4 pellets, 2 or 3 times a day..i guess i should lay off for awhile then
