good suggestion Akasha, but will my assassin kill a zebra nerite snail?

Chances are, yes, your assassin will have a go at the nerite snail

the litre/gallon thing I just can't fathom!! I couldn't tell you how many gallons my tank is but I know it's 240 litres!!

240 litres is about 63 US gallons

Just in case you did not know, as well as for anyone reading this, there is a calculator on this forum you can use to convert litres to gals and vice versa. As well as other measurements and crucially has a ammonia calculator too for those doing fishless cycles. You'll find it if you click on 'more' on main forum page, and look down and you'll see short cuts to various articles for the beginner as well as the calculator

thanks Ch4rlie - I didn't know about that

I usually divide the liters into fourths and it gets you a rough number of gallons. c:

That calculator page has been awesome ...I've used it a ton!!!

Lovely fish and tank!
Don't assassin snails have to breathe air though?  I'd heard they aren't suitable for tanks with no air gap at the top.

Daize, there is an air gap...its under the black hood. It's just hidden to give the appearance of a solid cube of water (but it's not)

Assassins when born go into the substrate and stay there to grow before they come back out- hard to need surface air doing that :)

Oh that's right, they use their siphon to smell for prey above the substrate while they're buried?  I was thinking of snails which use the siphon to breathe air.  Wrong species :)

TTA is that why my assassin went Mia for 14 days?!? Was he still growing?! Once he resurfaced (out of the substrate) he's been so happy and active! Or do you thing the cycle was tough on him and he was trying to stay safe?
Remember I didn't purchase him ... He stowed into my aquarium on one of my plants. It wouldn't have put any critter (even a snail) thru cycling a tank.

Would say a combination of both.

The assassin snail seems fine by the sounds of things, so would not worry about him too much :)

Looks real nice Jen, no need to get any cleanup crew if you don't want to. Best clean up crew is a sponge and a syphon. ;)
They almost always end up making more mess than they ' clean '
Beautiful Endlers too. :good:

Also, if you google 6 gallons to liters...google solves it for you.

The forum calculator is better ;)
