I have recently been given a 4ft Clear Seal tank by a friend, but am yet to decide what fish to stock it with or the layout of the tank itself.

I have a pair of Kribensis, three mature Buenas Aires Tetra, around 10 Tiger Barbs and an ancient Albino Cory.

I don't intend to keep the Tiger Barbs and the Buenas Aires will possibly go as well, but I'm at a loss at to what other fish to keep with the Kribs. I am very fond of Odessa Barbs so may get five or so and keep to a relatively low stock of fish.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of the fish in the tank currently:

The first one is my female Kribensis. I do have another pair in a larger tank, but these two have spawned a few times now :)

I wouldn't say they're overly great photos - I didn't spend much time on them

I used a Nikon D300 camera with a cheapo lens and the lighting from the tank.

And yes, Odessa Barbs are stunning - among my favourite fish!

odessa barbs are great looking. i also have 6 BA tetra, and despite being mostly 'plain' silver, the group of them stick very tightly together and look great darting round the tank. if you want to keep it relatively lightly stocked, id say up the group of tetra, get the odessas you want in a nice group, and leave it at that. would look amazing.

I will keep an eye out for some more BATs, but they need to be as mature as possible as my three are rather large and some years old now!

I work at a national petshop chain and we have a small aquatics section which stocks Odessas quite regularly so I will look at getting some shortly, when the tank has been 'scaped.

Thank you very much - kind words :)

I have some pictures of the other tank mates which I intend to upload soon.

that female krib is beautiful, ready to spawn? :good:

She is a lovely looking thing, as is my other female Krib in another tank.

Both have spawned, but due to the nature of their current setups (mixed community) the spawn has been eaten quickly.

I would love to set aside a tank specially to breed them soon.

Your kribs almost look like mine mate, mine are a bit darker with brighter oranges, yellows and purples, the flame coloured tail of the male is awesome!! you take some fantastic pictures too, the tiger barb photo is brilliant, I could never photograph mine as they always acted like they were on speed.

Also I would keep the BAT's, they look pretty. First time I have seen a picture of them.

Well done to you for having such beautiful fish and for being able to take great pics!

I had never even thought about keeping Kribs until a friend's tank cracked and I offered to take the fish on. Best choice, ever.

I'm really glad you like the photos. I daren't try to take photos of the fish in our 6ft as there is so much plant coverage making the light quite poor.

Anyway, here are some more of the Kribs' tank mates, and the newest edition: 9 young Angels, courtesy of a local breeder:

great photos and cool fish, what happened to the tiger barb? looks like its wounded

The Tiger Barbs has been like that since we got him, a fair old while ago. I was initially worried about the damage to his gills but it doesn't seem to bother him and he's been like that for over a year now :)
