No, Jade Eyeds with the EBJD. It's either that or my HRP's but they're definately a pair and may cause loads of aggro. And they're also blue

I dunno what the confusion is: Herichthys carpintis = Green Texas = Pearlscale cichlid. They are green when juvi, turn more of a turquoise when adult.

Awesome fish - incredibly confident :good:

Dunno why some people are getting their knickers in a twist over tank sizes. As long as it's 18" width at least, then one will be fine in there.

A single severum should work fine with an EBJD, Sevs are generally a lot quicker growing though, so may want to give the JDs a head start.

His EBJD he is getting is already 9" ;) So no drama there!

a 9" EBJD? never seen one that big, mine stayed at around 2.5" for a year then i sold him cos he couldn't compete with the sevs (that tripled his size) etc for food.

Pics a plenty soon. Collecting tomorrow evening so will get some pics up when sorted.

I kept a 9" EBJD, too skittish for my liking so had to let it go...defo 9" btw, will try to get a photo up...

Wet Pet - I got a Trimac 8" for sale, they don't get much more interactive then them...obv if u want a friendlier fish, Sev's.

JD's and Sevs get on fine... Well, my JD doesn't like my Rotkeils that much, but the Efascious she gets on with 100%

Not sure why a Texas wouldn't work? alongside something like 7 adult Giant Danios and maybe a few Hoplos or 4-line pims, I think it could go quite well provided the texas is added whilst still small.

What tank size are you thinking of starting them off in?

My suggestion would be a Vieja Zonatus with maybe a large plec or a few good sized cats
I agree with this but Zonatus are a very territorial species, add your catfish and dithers before the zonatus, otherwise he will see them as intrduers to his territory :good:

Also...if you are looking for a big fish thats gentle and pretty, look at red spotted Severums

Big male gold Severums are nice to

be nice if i got asked permission before my photos were used

Well it came off google images, so no i dont need permission for something i found in 2 seconds, how was i supposed to know it was yours?

Thus you aught to be carefull using Google images, as if the owner of the image isnt cautious they can get used in this way. I had to email a company to basically take down my images they were advertising as usuable clip-art pictures. They said they were fully within their rights to use them unless i (a) water-marked my images and/or (b) set my photobucket albums to private NOT public.

EDIT: Its worthwhile ANYONE who uses photobucket, flickers or imageshack to search your username for the sites on Google. I found my images hosted on a few websites "offering" them to the public to use and further host elsewhere. Promt emails sorted this, and changing my Photobucket account to private!.

So mark, its worth doing either or both of those for future reference!

And HGS1981 - My Jack is a little under 9", to be exact its probably near between 8.50" - 8.75".

Minnnt, for the record i would NEVER call a Jack Dempsey as a 'wet pet'. They simply are just to skittish and shy, most of the time i might add. Some are rather confident, if not a little bolshy. I had a female who took great delight in roaming the tank, and flaring her fins/gills at me at every chacne she got. Yet one of her sisters from the same batch of fry i bought was the complete opposite, would sit at the back of the tank all day hiding in the vallis never coming out, whenever she did venture out she was a horrible washed out brown/grey colour.

Well it was there, and its only me posting it as an example of a nice looking Severum, Mark should be proud, imo its playground stuff getting upset about it, he inboxed me a bolshy message to.

Sorry guys, but if its posted publicly on google images with no watermarque or copyright and i don't know any better, then i will use it.

There's no law against it and its done with no bad intentions.

I have found pictures of my old gold severum posted elsewhere to, it dont bother me in the slightest cos i'm not sensitive.'

no biggie hsg read the pm ive just sent you . i didnt realise just by posting it here and photobucket that the whole internet could see it . i thought you had just grabbed it from 1 of my posts hence me being unimpressed ands actually the mesage wasnt exactly bolshy i just asked to you be upfront if you wanted to use my photos . now i know differently im not fussed and its a lesson learned . i will be more carefull in future
