6Ft Tank...

Thought about 4 bolivians because I wanted keyholes too. :/

Penguin tetra's are the best shoalers I have ever seen, but rummy noses are good too.

Also just thought about praecox? :look:

Maybe a smaller group of bleeding heart tetra's too? :dunno:

Oh dear - way too much to choose from!!! I think yes probably stick to 4 BR's if you're set on the keyholes too.

I never know is praecox the scientific name for all rainbowfish or just the neon dwarfs? Either would be great..! I saw the Lake Tebera rainbowfish in Wildwoods a couple of weeks ago...now they are amazing!

I thought they were dwarf neon rainbows? If not then that is what I meant anyway.

Seen the tebera's at a local ma before, very nice indeed. :)

Yes you're right...it's just the dwarf neons that are praecox - my mistake sorry! So many options...bet you can;t wait to get this up and running.

As you know, i have some harlequins in my 5 foot tank, 25 to be precise. They are nice fish, i admit, and they school relatively well, they pack themselves together if they see movement in the room otherwise they spend the whole day going back and forth in a rather split group, some stay close while the others cruise around. They also stick to mid/high water, rarely on the substrate. However, my group of 16 Rummynose are far more interesting to watch, they cover all the tank, cruising over the plants, but they rarely reach the surface areas. They stick in a really tight formation.

I would be really stuck on a large group of fish, but tbh, i dont think i would want any more harlequins in my tank, so if you do go for them, i would try 20 at a time and see how you go, same for any other fish really.

Where ya getting the tank from? :)

I've got the cash for an 8x2x2 from ND sitting in the bank, i just dont have the space for it or the brownie points from the missus to let me get it....yet :D

:good:
I think i have a pretty good idea how that type of tank would look.......

Tank is second hand, but it's only £110... :D

I have Harlequins (10) and Glowlights (10) in my other tank, and they work out well as the Glowlights tend to stick a little lower in the tank and the Harlequins a little higher, so the tank is pretty active at all levels. But... like i said, i already have them so maybe not the best idea to replicate the fish?

Definately set on 4 Keyholes and 4 Bolivian Rams... Just need to pick the others. Think i may want something bright, but unsure if reds and blues are what i am after? Maybe something yellow? Been admiring Silver Tip Tetra's also. I know they can be nippy, but at least they will be in a massive shoal so may be ok? or... 20 Tiger Barbs? :shout:

Gotta say, i'd have a red tailed black shark in there in no time.... but I think a group of Chili Rasboras and some Green Neon Tetras would look awesome!

Chilli Rasboras? How many? About 400?

I have had a Ruby Shark before, and they're very nice. They can become a little bit bossy when older though so it wouldn't really fit in with my plans unfortunately. :/

Got to admit not my first choice for the tank but these kind of tanks can look great - I like your ideas but for me I would go for a smaller tetra in higher numbers and bigger groups of your cichlids.

6 Keyholes
8 Bolivian Rams
80 - 100 Green Neon Tetras :) or Ember Tetras
20 Green Laser Corydoras
3/4 Whiptail Catfish - either all one species or mix them up.

Wouldnt hesitate to do this in my tank (same size as this) Though for me I would get Cupid Cichlids over the other cichlids.

Though you could still consider cutting the tetra school size and get some more dwarfs like Laetacaras.

Wondered where you had disappeared to...

You really think i could get away with that many Keyholes and BR's then? :hey:

Cupids are great, but uber money, as would be 20 Laser Cories!!!!!!!!!!!! £200+... the missus would love me!

I was under the impression that Embers would stay closer to the bottom of the tank though?

I'm very keen on Keyholes and Bolivians so will probably stick with them. I know alot of people think they're boring, but i love them and alot of people know i have wanted them for aaaaaaaages! :D

Don't really like em too much, but this would get you going.

My shout would be for rummys.Mine never stop swimming together, especially if you get the current right. My LFS has 1000L tank with 300 of them in.Can't find the vid of it though.
Blue tetra's are pretty active as well.
