Silvers should be easily reaching 34-40" (eventually), however they are a very flexible and therefore 30" width is Just about doable.

Possibilities for the bottom levels, Bichirs, Lima Shovelnose, Tigrinus, Large Hoplos, large plecos, possibly rays but IMO they will restrict stocking

mid levels: flagtail, dats, Uaru, Severum, Chocolate Cichlids, Oscars, Silver Dollars, Tinfoils, Clown Knife, smaller bass,

Top: arowanas, gars

The Silver Arowanas and Motoro Stingrays are most likely going to be there for sure. That said, is there any way to fit in Oscars, Datnoids, and a Clown Knife? How many of each of these fish would you guys say is appropriate? If not all of them will fit, which would you recommend?

The Silver Arowanas and Motoro Stingrays are most likely going to be there for sure. That said, is there any way to fit in Oscars, Datnoids, and a Clown Knife? How many of each of these fish would you guys say is appropriate? If not all of them will fit, which would you recommend?

If you went for an aro and 2-3 rays then you should easily have room for a clown knife, a few dats, a lima shovelnose or tigrinus and a group of silver dollars for example.
Also I would be looking at some of the smaller rays, the motoro stingray is capable of reaching around 30-35" including the tail


Also just wondering, what kinds of fish are you used to keeping? As stingrays are easily one of the most difficult to keep

Tiretracks or Fire Eels would be a possibility, provided you buy them Big, otherwise they'd be arowana spaghetti

Personally, I only keep tiny friendly little guys in large community tanks. (Go NEONS! ) But my friend who's setting up this tank is into much larger and angrier fish LOL We were also wondering about the stingrays because of their level of difficulty (he's never kept them before) so maybe getting them is not such a great idea after all? (Although an arowana/stingray combo looks so awesome ) We talked about it some more and he's thinking about an arowana/oscar/datnoid combo. I think that'd work out alright except that leaves the bottom pretty bare. Oh, and let's not forget the clown knife. So...1 aro, 1 clown knife, ___ oscars and ____ datnoids. Fill in the blanks, please! For the bottom, we're thinking bichirs but neither of us have kept them before so any advice is appreciated!

A lone betta, LOL now that's something new. I've already heard the catfish and neon suggestions.

Aggressive fish are preferred. Also, the bigger the better. At the moment we have,

Top: ___ Silver Arowana's

Mid: ____ Oscars, ____ Datnoids

Bottom: ____ Clown Knife, ____ Bichirs


What do you guys think? The only fish he'd like to keep a few of are the Oscars, the rest can be loners if they're happier that way or if there's a room issue. Please fill in the numbers to give us a rough idea! Also, what would you suggest should be added first to the tank? Second, third, etc.?
