I look at several different sources, the I ask about it here and compare them. Average them out so to speak. For instance if one site says a clown loach grows to 6", another says 8" and people here say 14", I will make a rough estimate and and say 10". (I know this is not true, BTW, but it gives a good guide).

It depends on what I'm looking for. If I'm just looking for basic species information as to their living conditions, then I *used* to primarily use fishprofiles.com - til they said that rams needed a pH of 5-6

It also says that angels grow to 3" and discus grow to 5"

I use the top three of the choices, but TFF is the best! You can find out witch specific fish can or cannot go together, and overall, you get good advice

I use google! I make sure I read at least 3 or 4 profiles before I make a decision - they often vary quite a lot so its good to cross check a few sources...

I picked "other" I google and look at 3 or 4 sites that look reputable, then I'd ask on here and at LFS just to be sure.

To be honest, I find that this forum is the best place for info. There are an awful lot of members here with loads of experience and they can answer peoples questions exactly instead of looking through websites/magazines for articles close to my query.

same goes here, I also refer to the limited books i have and look on this forums fish index.
