Yes Cycling Again

Ok the results,

Ammonia 0ppm ( half dose stll)
NitrIte 0.50ppm

nitrites going well, should i bump the ammonia back up to 4ppm when nitrites are bk to 0 in 24hrs on the 2ppm ammonia dose?

yeah when the nitrites are gone in 24hrs then bump up to 3ppm then 4 in a day or so then back to 5, by this time the nitrites should be dropping a bit quicker and hopefully it'll just be a week or so to go.

So close to getting 0 in 24hrs for nitrite,

Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0.25ppm

it was 0.50ppm the previous 24hrs so progress! slow but progress none the less.

Ok heres the curve ball! 24hr test results half ammonia dose

Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 2ppm!?

Thats thrown me a bit cos its een getting nitrites down to 0.25- 0.50ppm in 24hrs last couple days then i get this result. Nothing has changed in the routing or dosing.

Have you checked your ph? If its dropped below 6 it will stall the cycle.

PH is fine at 7.6 as i had that thought and checked, i did one water change last week to get the nitrites down so it would start the second stage which it did nicely as you can see from the beginning of this thread.

will see what happens tomorrow and possibly do another change unless people have anymore suggestions

Hmmmm maybe a false reading, although Im sure youve double checked?

I can only suggest you carry on with what you have been dosing and see what they read tomorrow, unless Ive had a ph crash, not had that happen in any of my cycles

Temp still the same? Have you added anything to the tank?

temp is 1 degree lower than has been last few days i wanted to start lowering it a touch will put it up again see what i get tomorrow. Nothing new has been added to the tank

Ok 24hr results are in

Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0.50ppm ( was at 2ppm last test so would have increased with the dose of ammonia aswell)

Nitrate 80ppm not sure on this one hard to read between 40ppm and 80ppm colours.

Small glitch then with the previous readings, it happens I guess, looks like your getting there :good:

it seems so just done a nitrite test 12 hrs later and its at 2ppm which is good as the ammonia would have produced around 5.4ppm of nitrite from the last dose plus the 0.50ppm that was not processed last time.

ok

Nitrites 0.25ppm

we seem to be back on track hopefully in a day or so they will be at 0 for 24hrs and i can start increasing the dose bk to 3ppm then 4ppm over a few days to get it down from full dose to 0 in the magic 12 hrs.
