Im thinking of setting a car boot stall once a week, now i have a large amount of poly boxs, and the summer is on the way, would it be in any way illeagal for me to sell my young fish on these stalls, would it grab the attention of anyone who wouldnt like this what do you think?

Obviously i would pre package the fish and the poly boxs they would be in would be well lined, and with a heat pack if the weather was cold, but i personally cant see anything wrong with it, and i do know alot of fellow fish keepers who goto car boot sales so their would be a good marker for it aswell.

All suggestions welcome good and bad

No I don't agree with it as kids will impulse buy.
You need a shop to sell fish, it sound like a fairground goldfish being in bags.
The fish will suffer and end up going to bad homes.

I probably wouldnt sell to children because of the reason you mentioned i would make sure the fish were going to a good home and make sure the people purchasing were experienced keepers.

Dont kids just impulse buy in shops anyway? and the shop is happy to take their money.

If i was you m8 i would do it via ebay or summat

Maybe you could take pictures and put them on a board for people to see, then collect from your home.....

Its not that someone will want a fish with no equipment at all.
I would rather go to a lfs and set a tank up properly.

it would be illegal to sell any pets at a carboot sale
but why dont you try selling fish food or something fish related you could put some pics of your fish i am sure if any one is very intrested they will come to your home to buy the fish

Thats a good idea and definately better and healthier for the fish, but im still no sure on legalitys of the whole thing.

Car boots is meant to sell your junk on, its not for selling new products.
I agree advertise in a paper and sell the fish from home.
Or sell your fish to the lfs.

the words goldfish, funfair and dead fish come to mind. not a good idea, anyone could buy them, complete fish keeping idiots ( like i was once not so long ago)
not a good idea in my opinion.sorry :)

I agree that it's probably best to sell on ebay or something, that way fish are bagged up on order as opposed to being bagged up for hours, then to be taken home again anyway if they didn't get bought at the car boot.

You could end up with the rspca and and police on your back.
Car boots are not for selling live stock, or new goods.

RSPCA will not get involved neither will police.
You have to have license to sell livestock from local council . How folks get away with it on ebay ? some research required there?

Unless you own a shop you DO NOT need a pet license to sell fish. I should know as I set up an importing business with a mate. We found out the only reason it was useful to have one was so we could use the UK wholesalers easily.

But to buy/breed fish, then sell them from your home address does not require a license.

The way you were planning on selling your fish is similar to how fish are sold in china, fish are bagged up ready for a days work, hung up on display then the customer just picks the bag of fish they want.

And since when have car boot sales only been for 2nd hand goods! You obviously haven't been to one recently as plenty of traders at my locals go to car boot sales with new products to sell.

Why do people give advice they don't have a clue on!
