What was the logic behind the difference between some of them? Obviously the bigger tetras = less, but cardinals harlequins and blackneons?

Hmmm... I'd go with either, Rummy Nose, Cardinal or Harlequin Rasbora!

Personal preference I guess. Penguins get a bit bigger, cardinals aren't as bulky as black neons from what I have seen and rasboras, I dunno, not as good a shoaler as cardinals from watching and reading up on them so maybe a smaller group would work better for effect.

My rasboras never parted (apart from when dieing!), the three that's left are still side by side all the time.

Probably get 15 small ones or something at the weekend

As said 3 pairs of cichlids in a 190L is probably the limit in terms of cichlids, although various dithers from otos, corys, tetras, rasboras to hatchetfish, butterflyfish or panchax could all work alongside them IME

I'd love to get a group of Corys, but how well will they do on fine gravel? I hear they are the fish for sand?

Cories are best on sand, I wouldnt put them with much else tbh, though it could work if you just add some sand

I don't fancy changing the whole thing to sand, too much effort and I'm not keen on the poo and crap that settles on the sand .

Wouldn't fancy doing half or qualter of the floor space in sand either , so I guess I will leave those out of the question lol.

I'd love a plec, but I have no clue with them at all! At my LFS it doesn't say what size they will be when fully grown, so I haven't ever brought one because I worry it will reach 10ft

Theres a section on here with all the diff species and sizes they grow etc etc. Have a look on there, then just pick one in the LFS that looks the same, if that makes sense lol, I dont know much about plecs tbh, but there is plenty of people on here to help

A single bristlenose would be good in your tank Scott.

Also, you could get away with taking some of your gravel out or moving it aside and putting a patch of sand in.

From personal experience with cardinals, rummys and harlequins, I'd leave the cards out and go for rummys or harlequins - they'll be able to deal with the larger more active fish better (tests just my experience though...)

I have two rummy nose in the tank that the bloke gave me for free with the tank. So I think I will up them to 8 by getting 6 more then up my 3 harlequins to 10 or 15?

So that would leave me with,

x10 or? 15 Harlequins
1x Bristlenose

Oh and bristlenose, do they come as one size? Or will I have to shop arround for one that doesn't grow huge lol?

bristlenose get about 5-6 inches. Have a look on AC there might be someone local who breeds them. Sure there were some ads in classified on here too. Just have to make sure they get enough foot via algae tabs, veg etc, they can easily starve to death otherwise.
