Who Is Eating My?

Well it seems I have two lampeyes missing (one small and one large), and there are chucks out the tail fin of two of the others as well as the guppies.

The guppies were the first to get a bit tail nipped but thought this was as we had only males and a bit of aggression/pecking order. Now the lamps have gone missing (only noticed them not there today, will double check tomorrow).

The culprits can only be:
Angel
Pearl Gouramis
Guppies
Freshwater Gobies

We really REALLY do not think it is the Angel as it is the size of a 20p coin, (p.s the guppies were going to be rehomed anyways as not compatible and the lamps we were informed would be nippy so would get on fine).

I am suspecting the Pearl Gourami as one of them is extremely fat and theyve had only a little flake tonight (the other is normal fed belly). Is this our culprit? Little concerned as most sources read and was informed all would be fine?

im first thought where angles or gouramis but if the angles are that small then i would say gouramis.

probably its the fat gourami, as said above (unless he is constipated or something). I don't know much about gobies, so i can't say yes or no for them, but the fat pearl gourami is probably the one (as you suspected and as stated above). Do you have a spare tank/breeding box (the ones you keep in the main tank)? Or are the victims going to move? I'm guessing you don't want the gourami to continue to make snacks of your other fish, so you will probably want work out a way to sort it out. I'm not an expert with this stuff, so good luck, but a good temporary fix will be a breeding trap/ another small tank maybe your QT/hospital tank for your pearl gourami. Good luck with that :good:

Based on my experience of gobies - they'd be my first suspect.

i don't know much at all about gobies- hardly know what they look like :lol:

, but i think they might be bottom dwellers?

I need to do some homework! :lol:

Well the gobies aitn that big, these ones are not necessarily bottom dwellers and do venture all over the tank. The gouramis we are thinking of rehoming and see if the problem resolves this way. The reason also for this was because of the whole he was the fatty..reaaalllly hope it aint the gobies! Thanks guys for helping out, if anyone has any further info on the gobies be appreciated.

Have you added any plants recently?

I've heard something about dragonly larvae coming in on plants and eating fish....? Just a suggestions. ^^;
