Seachem Prime (especially for beginners for the first year and a half or so.) After that it depends on your situation and you might be able to save money not using conditioner or using a cheaper but still highly concentrated pond dechlor (or you might want to continue being safe and just continue using the highly concentrated Prime!)

I have been using AquaSafe for almost 6 years and outside of the cycling period, I have never lost a fish after a water change while using it. This post is NOT to say that waterdrop's post is incorrect. SH

I use the same thing as Steel and always have! However I agree with Waterdrop from what I have read Seachem Prime is the best of the best. It also does somethings that other conditioners are not able to do. Another benefit I've heard about this one is it doesn't take much at all compared to other conditioners. I would use it myself but its not available around here I may order me a bottle though.

I use Stress Coat. Didn't have access to Prime when I started out so I made do. To be honest, I think it's a great product. It removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia associated with chloramines, as well as heavy metal residues. It also acts as a general tonic and replaces the slime coat on the fish to help fight disease.

I use Seachem Prime I have just changed to it after using Tetra aqua safe from day one of the hobby the one big thing about prime is that it does the same as tetra safe but you use far less of it so its much cheaper in my opinion

Seachem prime is the best in my opinion....

Prime removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tanks biofilter. Prime may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels.Prime also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. Prime is non-acidic and will not impact pH. Prime will not overactivate skimmers
