well I don't like to be like other people, I am my own person, my husband likes it and the tank was a birthday present for me, so I had to make it my own. I plan on doing more with it, just need to find the right plants, thinking of growing my own

Nothing wrong with that

The local Petsmart stores around here have many live plants to choose from.

Shouldn't Patrick's rock house be to the right of Squidward's house opposite Spongebob's pineapple?

Ah right fair enough :) If your happy that they were sold as aquarium safe thats all thats important - please dont think I was criticizing your decor, its not to my taste but equally I can imagine others enjoying something similar. I was just concerned about the issues I raised as I have seen similar issues before.

actually the jug and the plants are all from my LFS so I know they are "aquarium safe". Instead of ragging on my tank you could have asked in a nicer way other than "has someone died". I would NEVER put something in my tank that would harm my fish. Next time ask before you assume.....

My local LFS has at least two types of plant for sale which I'm pretty sure are non-aquatic. Don't assume they're aquatic just because you bought them from an LFS. If we all went with what the fish stores told us we'd all be cycling in three days using bacteria in a bottle. :p

I have Gravel in my new 60gal and in both my gals

I couldn't find a replica of Patrick's house, that was the only one they were missing! I'm going to see if I can find one down by the river.

What kind of LFS do you go to that would sell you something that would harm your fish? Wow, I know my plants are safe, my lfs would never do that, they actually care at my LFS and are very knowledgeable. I'd report your LFS if they are really selling something that would harm your fish...

Gravel for me, I tried sand, but it was too hard to keep clean, or maybe I wasn't doing it right.
Anyways went back to gravel & I like it

I have both sand and gravel Sand looks better in my opinion, however i find plants stay down in the gravel better, And there are arguments that gravel will let more oxygen through and avoid anaerobic pockets where you will have these in the sand. Its whatever you prefer really, Sand is best for the majority of fish IMO

I switched from gravel to sand and I'll never go back, especially when I saw what was in the gravel that I thought was clean!
