Whats Wrong With My Cichlids

the nitrite tests are fine today even before i did the water chang today so thats good maybe we was over feeding?

Its wither that, or you had a mini cycle for one reason or another. Have you done anything differently, in the last week or so? Also, did you do a second test after first finding the high nitrite? It may just have been that there was an error while adding the test solutions.

its strange the only thing i can think of is that the cats have been digging in the sand could they have dug up some bad gass or something?
 
yeah the spots are like on the link so thats good that they are normal.

yea, they're pefectly normal with mbuna, go to the 'African/old world cichlids section', have a look around, you'll find plenty of pictures/useful info and other members who keep mbuna (including myself).

I suppose it's possible, but it is also unlikely. A few stupid qusetions;

1) Did you clean the filter recently, and if so, how?
2) when you last added new water, how much did you add, did you dechlorinate it, and how long before the problems, was this done?
3) how much food do you give them?

It is a good idea, when ammonia or nitrite are found i your water, to look at what caursed it. Looking into the caurse allows you to prevent it happening again.

well its all fine after the large water change. so im thinking now that it was maybe over feeding.
but i am keeping an eye on things
