What's The Most Unique Fish Behaviour For A Fish You've Seen?

I used to have a female German blue ram that I had for nearly 3 years who when she spotted me would act like a pointer dog and 'point' to a snail with her nose motionless until I picked the snail up and squished it, then she would eat if from my hand! If she didnt know where one was when she saw me she would frantically swim all over my 4 foot tank searching for one! I still miss her! :good:

That sounds amazing! What happened to her?

She died from a snail overdose maybe?

*Joking  *

I am convinced one of my frogs likes to play hide and seek. One is always out and about but the other hides in greenery and under things. He doesnt come out until I or one of my albino cat fish find him.

edited to say I know this is not a 'fish' but it is in my aquarium and so counts! :hey:

She passed away about 2 weeks after her mate did, who by the way never showed any signs of any tricks like that - he just used to hang around a little way off in the hopes that she dropped some!! Maybe of a broken heart as they mate for life? Dont know what the life span of a ram is so maybe old age? anyone know?

Recently, my firemouth, rather than defending a part of the tank, enjoys keeping the other fish from leaving their parts of the tank. He does have an area that he's claimed, but he finds much more amusement out of going over to the convict's part of the tank and flaring at him and making the convict all paranoid and flare back.

No real fighting goes on, and this usually happens while they're like a foot away from each other, it's like they're having an invisible gun fight or something

My bichir also enjoys floating around at the top of the tank for a while whenever he goes up for air. This worried the crap out of me for a long time, but I've learned to accept it as totally regular behavior. Totally weird, creepy, worrying regular behavior.

in regards to behavior in general, although I don't own and haven't owned them, shovelman's archer fish seem to be a blast to keep in regards to unique behavior. No doubt his guys blow anything I've ever had out of the water.

my hoplo catfish, little fella has a habit of cleaning the other fish in the tank and they sit there and take it happily. he even cleans my hand when i have to water change or shift an ornament. weird little dude...

One of my peppered corys was asleep yesterday upright with the tip of his tail on the sand . I mean completely upright leaning against a plant with his underside on display. I thought he was dead for a moment. He stayed like that for 40 minutes then shook himself and resumed darting madly in all directions.

I have a couple of weird fish in my tank right now.
1 of my albino corys likes to chill out on the tip of a plant, that's really really thin, it constantly falls off but just swims back round and tries it all over again.

1 of my clown loach likes to lye on its side to rest. As if its in a we trance of something? Stays there for ages, to the point I start to worry, then acts as if nothing writes goin on at all...

But the weirdest of all, is my angel. Which for the past month or so, has been flirting its we panties off..... with 1 of my discus! I am trying to get a video to post it but by the time iv got the camera ready its over. It's really odd, proper, doing the shakey dance up and down the sides of my discus.

Actually, my albino koi swordtail was quite funny the first time she saw corydoras. She hated the hell out of them. Thankfully, she stopped and eventually got used of them although the corys have been moved to another tank since. But she literally had an angry face on her. Look at this old video:

Just realised, I can hear Call of duty;-)
