I was wondering what's the most fascinating and or unique behaviour you've seen in a particular fish whether it be breeding, mating, eating or whatever?

I've seen it a few times with one of my black widows, he lets the food drop to the floor and circles it then eats it. It never usually happens but it's just weird!

Feeding my old Silver Dollars, they would dart so fast up towards the flakes that half of the food would get stuck to the lid.

When I kept Mbuna my male Lombardi would do the most rediculous camp dance to and fro the length of the tank to attract a female !

Cracked me up everytime

My female sparkling gourami recognizes my face

When I had a community set up, my figure 8 would always be at the top of the tank in front of the glass between half 5-6pm. Wouldn't move till I came over and hand fed him some mussel.

I had a fish once that was river caught and lived for years. It used to hide in its cave every time we had visitors/guests in the house and came out the moment they left the room. Some of them certainly recognize their owners.

My angel recognized my face too when it lived... When I went and touched the food it would swim up and wait for the food to come :)

Actually, my albino koi swordtail was quite funny the first time she saw corydoras. She hated the hell out of them. Thankfully, she stopped and eventually got used of them although the corys have been moved to another tank since. But she literally had an angry face on her. Look at this old video:

Someone on the forum has posted a video of her fish spitting water at the sirface at her =] Thought that was cool although not my personal experiance

I have six Hengel's Rasbora that, between quarter to ten and quarter past ten every night, collect in one top corner of the tank and dance up and down the glass. They don't do it at any other time and it's the only time I see them showing any real schooling behaviour. I'd love to know what it's all about. Perhaps it's a social bonding thing?

Is it possible to find the link? This is worth seeing.

I have been researching for about 30 minutes for it to no avail. I will look again later but hopefully someone will come on and know where it is or the owner of the video will come on. It was cool though it was at the surface and as soon as the lid is lifter it was spitting little streams of water at the owner. :hyper:

When we where eating dinner in the dinning room (where the fish tank is) my angel always used to stare at us eating its a little creepy considering I know what he was thinking

"give me your dinner"
"no"
"please"
"huuuh fine"
"muhahahahahaha" :p

I used to have a female German blue ram that I had for nearly 3 years who when she spotted me would act like a pointer dog and 'point' to a snail with her nose motionless until I picked the snail up and squished it, then she would eat if from my hand! If she didnt know where one was when she saw me she would frantically swim all over my 4 foot tank searching for one! I still miss her! :good:
