What The Heck Is This?

My friend pulled it out of a lake in jersey...

Looks morayish to me, but this is a freshwater lake! To add to the confusion, he has seen about 15 or so of these guys!

Any clue guys?

We are 99% sure its not an American eel.

Def. not american eel as it lack of the swimming fins. It looks like one of these exotic swamp eel or tulip eel. Florida has problems with swamp eel and this eel does looks like swamp eel. Report them to the DNR as this species are not native to United States as they come from Asia.

Rubber eels aren't fish, they're caecilian worms, I doubt they could ever breed with a fish. Common names fail again...
