what is a good number for the amount of amano shrimp to have in a 10 gallon.
Assuming other fish, and used as algae fighters.
Are we talking 2 or 5 or 10?

Depends on how much algae you have, and if you are willing to feed them. IMO you could keep 20+ in there, but they wouldn't be able to live on just the algae.

Hi, the amano shrimp are fantastic little workers in that they never seem to stop scavenging but they are not as an ideal algae control as many think. Their intake is quite small and unless you have a whole army they will not be able to make that a big an impact on a heavily algaed tank.

Well worth having though! :good:

i will agree, the 2 i have right now, like to sit on top of some plants that i have and just hang out. i am thinking 6 in total would be good.
I dont mind feeding them, but they are so picky. I wonder if they are scared of the fish. None of them even bother to look their way. I have a betta similar to the in doresy's sig. he is the only one i would really be concerned with anyway. thx
