The lungfish at my LFS is 250USD. They also have Red Belly Pirahna Adults for 200USD each. And they have a plec that's a good two feet long (no idea which kind) for 150USD.

Won't as in can't. They'll breed if everything is right for them as any other Dempsey would, but two Electric Blue Dempsey will not create electric blue fry. Don't ask why, i dont know. To get the electric blue gene in fry you have to breed an EB with a normal JD. Even this creates young that are mixtures. For example you could end up with 33.333333% Electric Blue fry, 33.33333% regular fry and another 33.333333% could be somewhere inbetween. Its all very complicated.

This is most probably because the electric blue gene is the least dominant and so there is only a 1 in 4 match up of the fry having the electric blue gene. Not going into this as it would require a bit of lecturing!! basically you should recieve a quater EBJD, half carriers of the electric blue gene (though may still look normal JD) and a quater just normal JD. All relatively simple gentic stuff but in reality you may get a different mixture.

I was just wondering what some of you guys/gals will pay for yor aquatic pets. I dont have anything real expensive, I think the top price of all my fish was maybe $15.......... I think it was for one of my African Butterfly fish, maybe my spiny Raphael cat..... I have a pair of Senegalus Bichirs which were a measly $10 a piece but I know they have to be more expensive now at full size..............

What was the highest price any of yall paid for a fishy?

$20 for an elephant-nose fish. back when i was ignorant and just starting out i threw one of these fish into my immature 10 gallon... soon after i learned they need extremely clean water. he lasted about a week or two. ya live and learn.

Not if it was an adult, especially if wild caught, 8 squids (rough conversion) would be a steal (my local MA had wild pairs at ~30 squids a pop a couple of months ago, if I recall)

So many commercially bred Bosemani are loosing the "patented" colouring in the males, part of which is down to accidental mixing of Bosemani with others from the same genus (like Parkinsons).
