What Do You Think Of This Tank ?

i finally have my 10 gallon tank established to the point where im very happy with it.

my betta was in a 3 gallon tank (the filter & heater died so i moved him into this one) he seems far happier more active, and his fins are relaxed(open and free flowing but not like flaring up)

very peaceful tank (betta doesnt attack the guppies, even when feeding) and they love following eachother around.

acquaclear 20 filter, 50 watt heater, and various decorations.

do you guys think i should turn up the air stone or lower it? (or leave it the same?)

basically just posting to get some feedback and such

I would use real plants and a couple of Apple snails. Low light plants should do fine.

i think it looks smart for what it is but its not my cup of tea i prefer natural looking tanks but you like it so that's awesome at the end of the day its about what you like not us you have too look at it all the time hope this helps

Some fish keepers assume that Bettas and guppies won't mix, but its not always the case, they seem to be getting on OK there and the fish are in great condition.

I like the TIKI head type thing

I think some floating plants would help you out in this tank, and help the fish feel more at home.

Perhaps also some more plastic plants (if you don't fancy live plants - its not everyones ideal) to provide more cover for the fish (and if any aggression does occur, fives fish somewhere to hide).

I agree that apple snails would look great in this tank.

i do have an apple snail to the tank, how many more could i add without overloading the tank ?

and floating plants would be nice, any idea what types i could find relatively easily?

what types of live plants would you recommend? (that i could find a petco or petsmart preferably)


do you recommend sand over gravel? considering changing to that as well.

filters in the top left corner, aquarclear 20, and there has been absolutely no aggression on either end. so i dont see a problem yet

I don't think there is a reason to switch. Everything is set now, and none of these fish will spend much time in the substrate. I'd leave well enough alone, if I were you.

thanks =) im glad i have established a somewhat respectable tank.

do u think there would be any benefit to switching to live plants? or not worth the effort?

Any plants from the following genera should be fine:
Anubias, Cryptocorynes, Valliseneria, Microsorum.

You could try mosses too.

I like it, simple, but shows off your actual fish rather than fish that happen to live in a planted tank, if you see what I mean. Not knocking planted, I have one and prefer it, but they can distract from the inhabitants sometimes.

I have had a betta with guppies before with no problems...until one day a guppy turned murderous on the betta. Not saying this will happen, they look ok at the moment - all nice looking fish too.

I do think a bit of floating cover would help relax the betta though, they do like to hide and chill out sometimes. I have seen fake floating plants on ebay, they don't have to be real, it's up to you.
