What Do You Think Of This Tank ?

A good floating plant might be amazonian frogbit (my preference) but you can also use water hyacynth (if there is enough gap between hood+light and water surface), Azolla (not had much luck with that myself), or riccia (as a floating plant it gets lovely and bushy, and bright green).

Personally I might stay from crypts for your tank, as their susceptability to 'melting' with water changes can be irritating.

If you want some low maintainance plants, Elodea crispa or densa is a good one, and will look like the tall plastic plant you have already.

I don't think there is a reason to switch. Everything is set now, and none of these fish will spend much time in the substrate. I'd leave well enough alone, if I were you.

do u think there would be any benefit to switching to live plants? or not worth the effort?

I will be getting plants in my tank, but it isn't necessary. I don't know how much effort there is, as I've never done live plants before. I think it might bring out the best in the fish, but I don't know from experience.

I think maybe your fish might like some more hiding places? Maybe a couple of caves/rocks/more plants? Especially as you're taking a risk with the Betta/Guppy mix. I also prefer the look of live plants but they can be hard work and frustrating so I can see the appea of a tank like yours. Bear in mind though that fake plants get dirty easily and frequently

thanks i really like him as well. i saw one at petco the other day that was stuckking 3/4 of its fins are blue, and 1/3 are white looked awesome!
and i actually turned that up last night on impulse

yeah ill probably add a little more plant wise, just didnt want to overcrowd the tank. and id love to add some sorta cave but havent really seen them around

great news is this tank is officially cycled
0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 ppm nitrate


i dont think ill add any more fish although i could prob add another guppy or 2 no problem.


also thinking about getting some live plants, although the local petco/smart have terrible supply right now
