I like the wood and the pebbles w/plants :) I personally would have gone for a more natural looking setup, perhaps with sand or natural gravel, but that's just down to personal preference. How about growing some hardy java fern or java moss on that wood?

Holey moley!!!!

If it was my tank i would change alot... Probably everything apart from the rocks, the hollow log, the wood and the fish.

The substrate is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too bright for my liking. A black substrate would be far better imo, as would a black background. I would also remove the air curtain along the back. I would also remove that humongous filter and replace it with a small external which would free up a fair amount of tank space for your fish. The plants would also end up in the bin too i'm afraid.

Of course, just my opinion and everyone has a different take on what they like.

:)

aww rite, i wernt expecting a reply like that lol, well it is my first proper attempt at doing it, everyone does things a bit wrong while still learnig, but why change the fish? in a previous post you advised me to get the 6 harlaquin rasboras

Add a plain, black background, it will make everything look better.
If your filter is completely cycled and stable, slowly top up those rasboras to a school of 10 of one species (they will be happier).
Try some undemanding plants, they'll reduce your maintenance requirements if you get enough. Try suitable Crypts and Anubias, also Java moss. (Your lights should be on a timer anyway..)

Good to see that you're using a proper thermometer :good: Is the filter working ok? I can't see any surface movement from it?

Edit: make sure to not mix up harlequin, hengeli and espei rasboras: they won't school together!

I never said that i would change the fish... :good:

You would be suprised how much the tank would change with a dark substrate and background.

When i had my first tank i had red and white gravel. Then red, white, light blue and dark blue gravel... :hyper:

I don't think you have done anything wrong, far from it mate, it's just not how i would have mine NOW.

The wood is stunning, and the rocks are great too, i really like them. I would purchase some moss for the branches and tie it on with cotton. I would also purchase some Java Fern and Anubias and superglue them to the base of the wood or to the rocks.

my other plans were to add a black backround, java moss to the wood and sumthing on the log and rocks, i just aint had the time to order them, and evetualy when i get everything sorted i was planing on goin with darker grvel, like black, i always wished i done it from the start but it will bw like that before long. and the rasboroas only bin in there a week, so jus waiting a bit soo can add some more of them in there, becasue i think they are stuning fishh

and its a 60liter tank

Yep, the Harlequins are fantastic fish. I have 10 in my tank and am so glad i have! This is the reason i suggested them to you in the other thread. :)

If you get the chance then something like the TetraTEC ex600/700 will make for a fantastic external filter for this sized tank and will remove that massive internal so you will gain a fair bit of tank space back.

i was also planing on geting and external filter like that, but money is a bit tight at the moment, so planing on puting it on my christmas list for someone to buy it, hopefully the gilfriend lol

i have to agree about the gravel... i personally would go for a dark substrate and background. if this is not affordable then using some play sand will give it a much more natural look.

everything else is fine unless you want to try a few live plants, maybe something like anubius or vallis or cambomba are pretty easy plants to keep.

unless the bubbles are for show then you dont really need them just use the filter to aggetate the surface of the water :good:

a nice group of the harlequins will look stunning too.

yea was also looking at that filter aswell, the kind of gravel i was thinking of geting evetualy is sumfin like this

would that suit it beter?

Yep, should be fine mate :)

Another external that would suit it would be something like the APS 1000.
