Hi guys,

My tap waters PH has risen slightly it’s at around 7.6. What’s natural that I can put into the tank to lower it. I have wood and cattapa bark in there at the moment.

I do water changes twice a week so can’t afford to get RO water that often. Does peat work well?

what sort of fish do you keep?
what is the GH and KH of the tap water?

Getting hold of peat in the UK isn't the easiest. Most places now sell peat free products, or at least products with only small amounts of peat, due to the destruction of peatlands.

I would recommend indian almond leaves. Take note that if you add something that lowers the pH you are still working with tap water with the higher pH so any water exchanges you do will have to be smaller so there are not huge swings in the pH level.

I personally used co2 injection to lower my pH as it benefits the fish and the plants.
