What are your favorite cichlids

I've always had a soft spot for firemouths. One of the first fish I kept as a kid before I knew anything, and the first fish I ever had spawn in my old 55g. Such good parents, too.

I can remember a friend who started with convict cichlids, and they bred and bred and he couldn't sell them and they bred, so his whole fish room just had convict cichlids in it. Kinda funny really and unique. I have never known any one else just to have one species of fish.

I guess there are just too many.
From South America to Africa and Central America.

My current favourite now is Discus though my favourite used to be the Eartheaters.

African Cichlids are also amazing though they tend to be more aggressive but water chemistry are not suitable for them.

I love my severums and I also really love parrot fish. Wish I had a better tank so I can keep a pair but i only have a hybrid at the moment.

Another cichlid I find interesting is the Green Chromide Cichlid. Rare, since it’s brackish.
