Where I live there's no tick's at all, But when we go for moose season, There's some big enough they make a cast iron skillet ring like a bell when you wack them...

They are all cyclical and once peak is reached they always go back on their own. We have many that runs about 7 years cycles some 5 some 3... Once in a while they all peak together. People panic and start spraying all sorts of poisonous products. I have poison ivy and deal with it on cases basis.

Since a couple years, moose have less and less ticks and the last ones where clean... 6-10 Years ago they where eaten alive and we would "take" the most afflicted out of compassion.

Today, I continued the weed waking operation to an extend... But if you ever heard of Japanese knotweed you know what invasion means. My father (Peace to his soul) said The US dropped the nuke on japan, Not to eradicate peoples, but because of this weed... And Just like the peoples, it came back ten time stronger.

After that that I upgraded a luxurious intel i9 gaming laptop with 24 cores... To some light speed gaming ram and dual of the fastest enterprise grade datacenter M.2 ssd's I could find, resulting in a whooping 28 gigabit/s transfer from ram to disk.

I honestly could not make a tower that fast today without a substantial investment on a hard core Motherboard.

I loved the old design of laptops... Today you have to crack open a 4k oyster to replace basic parts. And I have stuff 20 years old without a scratch.

If I scratch it, I'm gonna see only that for the next 20 years... So the processes is "white glove" all the way and removing a panel without parts flying off... Is mandatory. I try to be low on caffeine when attempting these jobs. loll...

But the process completed with clean success, I'm finalizing software installation, and tomorrow an engineer will enjoy high end 10K$ workstation capability in the slimmest thing I ever worked.

One of the things about living here in June is we get busloads of elementary school kids on field trips to the nature park up the road. They pass by singing and you can feel the caged desperation of the teachers, trying to survive for just a few more days. I used to love the last day of school before exams in a high school, because if you like the kids, you have to enjoy their excitement at getting the %^%$%$ away from you.
It was nice not to have to prepare lessons and constantly generate ideas, don't get me wrong. When the hallway drama would switch off, it was like a cloud lifting. I liked my vacations. But there's something about the end of the school year for a kid that we as adults rarely feel again, and it's a riot to watch it roll by in front of the house in yellow buses.

I had a naughty d39 so i decided to put it in a 5 by itself for a little bit - but first i had to buy a 5 $18; then I spurge on a lid $19 and then i realize i didn't have any tiny heaters $19 - anyway here we go:

today.jpg

The substrate, wood and light came from the closet so $0; tomorrow or saturday i'll move him in there - right now he is a breeder box where he can misbehave all he wants - this is meant to be a short term solution - but in the process i gave his 29 to a trio of a. elizabeth cause lizzie insisted on having the aquarium. I might find a nicer piece of driftwood next time i'm near a store but by then he might be moved out of time out and into another aquarium - i have a set of d39s in a 20 long where he probably belongs but better safe than sorry as d39 are kind of not too readily available.

With the manhunt for Travis Decker going on in the surrounding areas by me, traffic is horrible. Everyone is on edge, and there’s police and helicopters everywhere.

I’m glad they’re taking it seriously to find him, I only wish they would have taken it seriously when the concerns were brought up by their mom prior to him killing the girls.

Reminds me of the boston bombing; then they locked down the city to find one 17 year old - but they forgot to tell folks the city was locked down so police with m16 was stopping everyone.

That’s crazy! Thankfully the police have been super super communicative with road, park and trail closures.

I haven't heard of that crime - it's local news, but from what you said, I hope they capture him quickly. It's always stressful when these guys are out there on the run, especially if it's a wooded area.

Far away from there in a place called here, it's foggy and rainy, since it's the weekend. We had 5 days of wonderful sunshine when everyone was at work. I'm putting my fishroom downsizing project on hold for 2 days while we visit family. I've had a couple of minor issues that made aspects of the set up impractical, and by eliminating all the 5 gallon tanks and one 25, I can give myself what I need to enjoy the rest of the set up more. The removal of two wooden racks simplifies draining, filling etc greatly, and declutters the look of the room.

End-of-the-school-year celebrating, leading approximately 400 million little kids and their parents in Pete Sutherland's "Robin Hood" song. Sometimes I have a pretty cool job.
Here’s a picture of a patriotic robin. He was singing the piccolo solo from “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
These two go together well. Teach him the Robin Hood song you taught the kids.

Spending the majority of today transferring files across many drives in preparation for a new boot drive. Decided Im going to ditch Win11 as big billy gates wants me to have bloatware. Opting for Linux Mint 🍬

Try this script, tell me how you like it.

Take the time to consult it. All options are customizable. So it can be adjusted to do exactly what you want.

With a little tweaking, my W11 are as clean as W7 installations. No copilot, no AI, no recall,

The speedup resulting is quite visible.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that. Im currently on W10 and would prefer to just stick with it, but support is only until October  I had seen a few Reddit posts on bloat removal tools too, which look promising.

I have been weighing up the pros and cons of Linux, and after thinking about it. Win11 may be the better option of the two for what I need from my PC.

Yeah I was too with W10, But after giving a go to W11, I must admit that it goes a lot better than 10 overall, and the dark mode is better integrated.

Check the file Appslist.txt in the script, this where you choose what is removed and what is kept.

Atm I was able to receive a few roll up updates and nothing removed has "returned" so finger crossed, It's very good.

Have given that list a read and it looks great to me. I prefer a clean slate which I can add apps to in my own time.

One question. Do you know the significance of those #AD2 HP named files at the bottom of the list?
