Just doing that dangerous thing I tend to do called thinking.

We now have cars that drive themselves. Now let's say that such a car's 'auto pilot' fails and causes an accident. Who is liable; the owner of the car or the manufacturer? To rule out some possibilities let's assume the car is still under warranty. Personally I say the manufacturer due to a case some years ago. A guy rear ended a car at enough speed that there was a death. He claimed that the throttle locked and he could not stop. He spent, I think, two years in prison but then there was a recall on the car model due to exactly what he said he experienced. Due to this he was eventually released. I think this makes precedence on a manufacturer being liable for a faulty system in a produced item be it a car or stand mixer.

I never understand the meaning of woke. Sounds like when people can't express why they dislike something it is 'woke'.

Sitting at work. Had to take off yesterday due to some tummy issues. Yesterday was weird out in N. IL with the smoke from Canada, its a tiny bit less smokey today. Hopefully the rain is actually going to fall today, that should hopefully clear the air. Someone said that being out for 1 hour yesterday was the equivalent to smoking 1 pack of cigarettes. Good thing I wasn't out yesterday-I don't have the best lungs after going through radiation to my head/chest twice and then having bronchitis twice and pneumonia once.

Anyway, I had ordered some substrate from Amazon/Bio Dude with ETA for the 20th, I maybe celebrating earlier since FedEx just sent me notice of delivery for the 18th...it is FedEx so I definitely won't hold my breath

Today I will hopefully be out by 3 ish. Depending on the weather I may go grocery shopping or not.
Hoping tomorrow I am moving the snakes downstairs. I have RHPs on the tanks and would like to use my hot knife to cut the center brace on the one enclosure's screen top as my girl likes to squeeze in between the screen and the panel. This would be OK if she wasn't about 3" round and I can hear the screen and panel stretching/flexing as she moves in. I have tried to block it with foam pieces, but smarty (no) pants just moves it with her head.

Enclosure is a Exo Terra 36" x 18" x 12".

On a fishy note...my 120 has 2 FX4 filters, the one I have had issues with for the year finally decided to stop. Noticed that yesterday, but no way I could deal with it, so maybe I will fight with that today. I had initially bought a replacement motor, but every time I clean the filter and remove/clean the motor/impeller area it works again. This time I am going to just put the new motor on and get on with my life, lol.

What type snakes ?

I had an albino Ruthven and an Arizona mountain king years ago in fact bought them via kingsnake site when they were hoping .

Both lived over 15 years , each one was in a 40 gallon long with driftwood , etc , the Ruthven saw all time but Arizona mostly hid not so much at night.

I have 2 Kenyan sand boas, male and female. Male is aprox 8 month younger than female. Female is +/- 3 years old and massive, probably close to 24" long and easy 3" round. She is in an Exo Terra 36" x 18" v 12" and he is in a 24" x 18 x 12". She mainly uses only one side of her tank, he is all over and much more reclusive so its hard to judge his size. Originally she was mine and he was my sister's and she was excited to handle both of them. That didn't happen so they are hand shy. Plus I am responsible for both of them, food and maintenance wise. We did get them off live mice-but frozen aren't cheap either, and I tried reptilinks (HUGE waste of $$$).

I recall when sand boas hit the market going back years how insanely expensive at the time .

I was into snakes but interestedly enough must say have never seen a sand boa other then pics .

Once in a blue moon after massive rains I see snakes in yard as yard is lots plants and have seen exotics but no sand boas , lol

Let me add that the price of good fat feeder mice not those scrawny types in last few years has gone through the roof .

Where I have moved to I have seen lots of garter snakes but nothing much else.
I never heard of the Kenyan sand boas until then, now I hear there are Saharan sand boas, look similar to a Kenyan but lay eggs vs live bearing.
Also the Kenyan aren't really in sand, but sandy soil. I am sure the Saharan is in more sandy substrate than soil mix.

When Sis was entertaining snakes a few years ago she wanted a milk snake. We were at the Tinley Park reptile show in October and saw the sand boas and fell in love-they were so small they fit in a little condiment cup! Unfortunately her male didn't make it, so I got her another one for her birthday in December (she picked, I paid)- it was a bit older than the original one. I didn't know she would loose interest a little after that.

I’m having a great day so far . Last night we had a spectacular lightning show from a rainstorm that passed to the northwest of us . This morning I arose from my slumber ( always glad when that happens ) early and got out on the bike at 7:00 AM for a forty mile ride which happened to go in the direction of that aforementioned rainstorm . This is dry country out there and they grow wheat and run cattle . What are normally dry depressions and creek beds were full this morning with a stream running that I’ve never seen with water in it and many small ponds . Places where the farm roads come out on the road were muddy with gravel washed out and around . What kind of deluge has to happen for that to happen ? The birds were joyous and flying around everywhere ! Then the coolest thing . A big hawk landed on the road ahead of me in the opposite lane and when I pulled even with him he flew up and flew beside me at shoulder level for about twenty yards . I was looking at him and he was looking at me and then he flew over me and if I had been foolhardy enough to reach up I could probably have felt him . I felt like Richard Attenborough with those geese in that one show of his .
Now the ride is done and I’ve showered and eaten and the rest of the day is totally mine to do whatever I want . I’ll feed my fish and do one water change because I got them all done Wednesday . Every once in a great while a guy has a perfect day . Today is that day for me . Life is very good .

Couldn’t be outside for very long. I was choking on smoke from the Canadian wild fires. Hard to believe the smoke wafted all that way. The sky is gray and hazy.
