What's new

What are you doing today?

Deciding whether to replace part of my bird's penthouse or do something different. He eats his cage. ;)

First image is a sea grass mat initially hung on the back of his cage and the second image is what is left. Not a bad thing as to his eating as sea grass is a good thing for fiber. The mat is behind the sea grass hammock in the middle. If still available I will likely just replace the mat as he obviously likes the thing and it a good and healthy fiber supplement. Funny thing is that he won't touch the mat when his cage is uncovered. He only eats the mat during the night when covered.

Just got done with a chat with an actual human Amazon rep. From what was said a replacement of the broken baking dish will be forced on the seller to replace with no charge and no return.. Estimated time for the replacement is 5 days. Works for me and I have to give credit to the Amazon support.

I started organizing my tax stuff today, oh boy! My allergies were on full blast from all the paper dust even though paper was in folders. OK, I did go through some older folder stuff to weed out a bit. I seem to be missing a couple things that "should" have been put in the 2025 folder. Cue up Men at Work "Who Can it Be Now" but think "where can it be now?" I'm not sure I need Turbotax, maybe just a file clerk...or a general picker upper, lol.

I believe what you're looking for is a maid. :)

I have new fishies coming in today!

Saw these beauties today at a LFS. Has anyone ever kept them before? Definitely a fish I cannot keep at the moment though

Large, anti-social and inclined to crunch - wish they were sweeter...

I'm dealing with jet lag, though less than yesterday. I'm too tall to sleep on planes, and had 17 hours of flying to get home from Benin. Life is good though - having fun kicking the fishroom back into gear.

I guess I just did my good deed for the month. but I lied a bit. ;) A guy in my apartments that I consider to be a friend mentioned the other day that his dinner was a cut up raw potato with salt just to fill his gut. That just does not work for me as I can pretty much afford to buy any food I want.

The lie comes in from my telling him that I messed up on my last Omaha Steaks order and ended up with too much of some items and asked if he could use. I offered him a few items including a nice pork chop, stuffed chicken breast, burger patty and a plain chicken breast and he accepted with a slew of thanks.

I also talked to a couple of other friends in the apartments and the guy now has rides any time needed to go to the food bank and other resources to help him out.

Since this guy is a bit proud I was worried that he might be offended by my offers of help but he took it well and accepted.

It is just not in me to eat well while knowing a neighbor down the hall is going to bed hungry. Just not something I can do.

My food offer is not a solution nor is the transportation I arranged. Still it is a start for a potential solution.
