Staying home and safe on New Year's Eve as is normal. I leave tonight to the amateur...

Back in from a family get together - having a nice glass of single malt, and waiting for midnight, when all the ships anchored in the Bay will blow their horns.
Not exactly exciting stuff, but I like the sound to start a year. I'll probably be asleep by 12:02. I've become a wild man, I tell you.

The dogs and I hid in the office, fireworks on all sides, and I mean professional grade within half a block, didn't seem to bother cats or fish. The last boom a bit after 1. Happy New Year. We have a drought so I watered yesterday evening, I guess they were careful no fires.

We got a load of snow yesterday. It's very pretty, but we had 38cm, so it's not ideal. It looks like a Christmas card but I'm watching the wind. I have to do a 4 hour drive today, and it may take a bit longer.

I have a relative in Hico and she is concerned about the dryness down there . Fireworks were few and far between this year in my neighborhood and my cat was not the least bit perturbed .

There are two NFL games on TV today. Panther/Bucs today at 4:25 ET. Winner makes the playoffs.
And at 8 PM (ET)...49ers play the Seahawks. The winner gets a bye week for the playoffs.

It’s been a rollercoaster of a start to 2026 for me, but some major things are happening and I am still kind of in shock (in a good way!)

I’m hopeful this year will be a bit easier
