I wonder if new aquarists wandering into a technical thread about water view it as many view the gamer computer discussion? I've never been caught by gaming - and yeah, that's generational. Well, not never, I did play a mean Space Invaders and a solid Galaxian back in the day. But clearly, I've never needed to have those tools.
I have a fishroom project to sort out - the kind only people with multiple tanks have to be worried about. I have a few underpopulated and fishless tanks, just in the run of things as fish grow, get moved, get auctioned etc. I have a friend coming to stay for a visit in the summer, a person who is in the centre of the European Cichlid world. If all goes well, he's bringing me at least 3 species, two of them dwarfs, that probably aren't being kept in the North American hobby. He may bring more.
That's a little under 4 months away, and a lot can happen. The tanks aren't heated, and won't be for the fish so far, as they are Gabonese and fish from that equatorial country have the quirk of liking cooler water, around 20-22. I guess the best strategy is to move Corydoras group fish into those tanks to keep the cycles alive, and yet still be able to move them out. I like to keep my tanks geographic, but there will be some temporary inter continental mixes there.
The old line that I can resist anything but temptation is a true one, and I have to be disciplined and not buy the next cool weirdity I see. 4 months is a long time, and it's no time at all.
