What are you cooking?

I made spaghetti sauce but it's still cooking down. I guess I got carried away rinsing the tomato cans with a bit of water & throwing it back in the pot.
I'm having hunger pangs NOW! Patience has never been my strong suit, but it's almost good enough. I may have to start the pasta water very soon

I won't be cooking today and will be picking up Chinese instead for the ball games. Haven't decided on what yet but it has to be something that won't fly far when thrown, plus like a jillion egg rolls.
Mmmmm, egg rolls.
They serve HUGE portions so I'll be set for two days.

I'm (slowly, during football) making fried ham, potatoes & pineapple ;) Maybe broccoli or not, optional.

We don't have a good Chinese restaurant near us. Kind of surprising given where we live. We make do with Thai crispy rolls or, heaven forbid, Panda Express veggie rolls or frozen. Really?!? We have Chinese neighbors...where are the good restaurants near me? Maybe they make their own?

I wish my plant clubber & his old momma came to more meets, she made very good 1s. Since I always complimented them & thanked her, she'd give me leftover 1s. Even with a language barrier, she remembered me & knew I loved them! I tried not to be too greedy, but dang! they were yummy!

I used to make lesser egg rolls. My husband liked them but not good enough for me & a lot of bother. A niece's partner makes good 1s too...but lives 2000 miles away, lol.

That's wild! You'd think they'd be all over in SF! Isn't there a Chinatown there?
I've never been in a Panda Express. Something about a chain Chinese place doesn't seem very Chinese to me. Everything's good at the little place I go to but they have seriously to die for egg rolls. And their house mustard will clear out your sinuses faster than a bottle brush in a high speed drill.
Mmmmm, egg rolls.....

I completely get that lol. Although I have been to a panda express several times and love their honey walnut shrimp.

Tonight is Chicken Cordon Blu with sauteed Brussels Sprouts. There will be an added kick with the sprouts as I'll add some cheese ravioli to the mix. Some bites I like cheese with the sprouts and some bites not. The ravioli gives me pockets of cheese without all the sprouts having cheese so I can pick and choose between sprouts and sprouts with cheese.

I actually use cheese ravioli in this way quite often with different foods.

@gimme30 Yes, there are Chinatowns in big cities here, but not in my suburbia. Our east coast Chinese friends told us to beware of most SF restaurants. Foods snobs? Quite likely...but for reasons not based on egg rolls I'm pretty sure, lol. We ate off the Chinese menu once with a Chinese coworker, very different! No chicken feet!

We also have strong opinions on fried dumplings. Long ago a restaurant "gramma" made the best ever!! She recognized us & if she was there, the dumplings were awesome!!

Tonight, we're having tacos. I want black beans mixed with gr. beef, husband not so much. Hard shells or soft? Still up for debate but I'm getting quite hungry. Chef's prerogative? I sometimes play that card, but not often over tacos. They are easily customized...

Was going to have quesadillas but it seems that I forgot to seal the package of flour tortillas after last use. Hard to make quesadillas when the tortillas can't be folded.

Plan B is a bacon cheese burger with taters. Never a bad option. ;) Might add a bit of baked beans but it is a bit late to start them so that will likely be done tomorrow to go with a pork chop.

A zap in the microwave can often fix dried out tortillas. Covered to steam a bit, not too long. You can also just stack the tortillas over quesadilla "guts" & zap, not folded but the same thing.

We're going with indoor burgers again. I'm doing green olives, onion, lettuce & mayo...after hockey, meh. Oops, Flyers lost, dinner soon!

Speaking of burgers have you guys seen the latest Applebee's ad? They're advertising their O M cheeseburger, which is nothing more than a burger cut in half and placed in a skillet full of melted cheese. I generally agree with the theory you can never have too much cheese, but man that thing looks disgusting.

And if Chic-Fil-A is SO good why do the end of their commercials state that the customer was paid for their testimonial? If it is SO good why do they have to pay?

Tonight will be a pork chop, green beans and baked beans. I think it is well known by now but I like things that many would consider a bit on the weird side. ;) I'll toss the baked beans with egg noodles. LOL! Don't knock it unless you have tried. It is REALLY quite good. The pork chop will be pan cooked with apple sauce added toward the end of cooking. Some may also consider this weird but pork and apple just go together.

Thinking pork and apple, I haven't done in ages but I totally love taking some pork tender loin and cutting stuffing pockets to insert apple pie filling. Note that I said 'tender loin', not 'tenderloin'. There is a difference.

Meat cakes again here with broccoli & peas. Mashed potatoes of course, with enough leftover for soup tomorrow.

I agree, the cheeseburger drenched in cheese sauce doesn't look tasty just messy.

I've only had Chic-Fil-A in an airport twice. On my way to flight connection, too far to other options. Not bad. Their cow ads are kinda funny. We have 1 close to us but have never been. It's next to a 24 hour gym & the traffic is bad. I avoid that area.

Being weird again tonight but not really.

Took left over baked beans and added partially blackened pork chop chunks, water to make wet and threw in egg noodles. The added water is for the noodles.

May sound weird but really is just a bean and pork stew. I MAY add some peas at the end but not sure... Ya, I think there will be peas. ;)

<edit>
This is actually REALLY good! And, yes, I added the peas.
