What are you cooking?

Happy 4th!

End result. A little more done than I like the bones are pulling out. I like a little “tooth” to them but they are still moist! I call it a win.

Maine hard shell lobsters were on sale today. So I grabbed two 1.25 lb chicken lobsters. Served on hot toasted buttered rolls with a bed of lettuce. Seasoned with a bit of salt, lemon juice, and mayonnaise. I have enough for two more lobster rolls.
Served with corn on the cob and broccoli. Made a nice hot fudge Sunday for dessert. Yum!

I'm not really a crab eater but DO like a crab poorboy, crab cake or salad. Oddly. for what I like, I prefer decent quality fake crab over real crab. To me crab, and lobster, are lacking a lot as to flavor. The flavor seems to come more from the butter dip than the crab. To me crab/lobster is like a Filet Mignon Steak, just no flavor.

LOL! Now scallops are different. Too expensive for the 'real thing' to do often but I can eat them by the dozen... Hard brown butter sear on the outside with a tender middle.

Here we are at Fishmanic’s diner.

So what’s on the menu tonight you ask. Well they had choice grade New York strip steak on sale at $12 a pound so I bought a one pounder. Cooked on the outdoor grill. Side of mashed potatoes and a nice salad. Apple pie ala mode for dessert.
I have enough leftover steak for another meal tomorrow.

I love your diner but dang! Your lobster & now steak is making me drool!!

We're having thawed chili & corn muffins since I didn't make potato salad. Kind of a let down after your pics, Fishmanic, I'm jealous!

Coming soon, I’ll be making American chop suey. Here is the ingredient list:

Since cooked pasta doesn’t freeze well, I will make a portion of pasta for two meals and use just some of sauce. I will then freeze the remaining sauce for future meals.

I will have to send this recipe to my cousin. It's not something I or my family made that I remember having but she asked about it a while ago. I hope you don't mind

Here is the full recipe. Scroll way down to read it all.

Thanks, Fishmanic! To me it sounds like a combo of my goulash & spaghetti sauce with more meat & some sugar & butter. What's not to like?

I'm having what I was supposed to have last Friday but didn't due to never getting hungry. I only eat when I feel hungry so fairly often won't eat for a day or two. Many may disagree but I only eat when I feel hungry. My body knows when it needs sustenance If I don't feel hunger my body is fine with what it already has.

Anyway, cut up boneless chicken breast with mango, cranberry and Bartlet pears tossed with egg noodles. There will be some spices such as sage, basil, black pepper, basil and garlic. I'll lightly sauce with either orange sauce (a bit hot) or Teriyaki.(sweet). I think I'm in sweet mode today. :)

I finally made potato salad today, it's chilling now. I'll sauté Italian marinated chicken soon & corn on the cob again (tis the season, before it gets too hot here).

We've also been eating lots of sweet cherries as afternoon snacks. Has anyone tried Mount Rainier cherries? They're a short season thing here. Meh, they don't look or taste like "normal" cherries the few times I've tried them & 3x the price.

Bought 5 lbs of chicken breast at the supermarket on sale for $1.99 a pound...I couldn't pass up a bargain. The package has 6 chicken breast in it. I left 3 of them full breast size to use for chicken stir fry. . I cut the other 3 into half thicknesses for a total of 6 thinner breasts for quick cooking on my grill or to make chicken parmigiana.
They also had corn on the cob on sale at 12 for $3. Can't beat that price. I picked up a half dozen. Another bargain.
Also picked up a midsize water melon at $3.50

Tonight I ate the leftover steak from the 4th of July grilling. Warmed up in the microwave, steak just doesn't taste as good as freshly grilled steak. It's drier and tougher.
