Went to Wharf Aquatic yesterday to get some Honey Gouramis for my small tank. Again served by who I think is the boss. Lovely guy. He knew I am putting them with my tiger barbs. He thinks they will be ok with them. He picked a male and female for me, and as I was paying, he offered to take my tiger barbs in as a trade-in for some other barbs if I was having problems. And by the way, I didn't buy the barbs from them. What a lovely gesture. I thought I should share it with you all really. Most of the LFS I have been to are run by nice people but never had personal touches like that before.

I think I will. I'm sure they won't offer me at their selling price, but my barbs hasn't really taken into the new tank. They do chase the gouramis a bit, plus I have had enough of aggressions in tank and just want a peaceful tank now. Hoping they would have some cherry barbs to swap with (he offered me some 5-banded barbs), and also up the number of gouramis as well. He said he use tap water for all his stock, including discuses and had no problems. I work in Mansfield but live in South Nottingham. A bit of a trek but for the level of stock and service there really isn't anywhere else better to go.

It's not that far mate. Lol!! They know their stuff thats for sure!! I've never had any issue with anything from there and if you get to deal with graham then you can learn a hell of a lot!! They have recently had to change supplier though so ordering one off is a bit of a no no now but they will look on the internet at special suppliers for you if you ask them nicely.

I don't know their names yet! It's the one with silver hair. ~5ft7, normal build.

Anyway I'm trying to finish stocking within the next week so will be going there...

That sounds like Richard. I believe he is the guy who does the ordering and keeps an eye out on the internet for things.

I could spend hours and hours and hours just looking at the tanks let along speaking to the staff!

Few tips:

DON'T PARK ON THE YELLOW LINES AS YOU WILL GET A TICKET FROM THE TRAFFIC WARDEN!!!
Don't wear a coat ever! Even if it is the middle of winter with 3ft of snow on the floor as you WILL be slowly roasted when in the fish room.

I think you are right. When I go it's usually first thing in the morning so plenty of space to park. I too can spend hours looking at the fishes. The first time I went I was there for 2 hours and Richard sold me the liver catfish! Have to say it was a bit of impulse buy.

I always park further up or down the street, i learned the hard way! I bought a very expensive pair of BN's from there, £24 for the fish and a £35 parking ticket.

Off topic, but your 620 looks awesome! Have you put any pictures up in the members tanks section?

Thanks. My tiger barbs disagree however. Which is why I'm so glad Richard offered to take my fishes in. They are hiding under the branch when the lights are on. Even tried using only 1 light rather than 2, same.

I haven't put the pictures up. Why?

Mine too until I moved them. I added more plants to recreate their old home but not really working (yet). In contrast, the honey gouramis are pretty happy to explore the tank.

One or two of them are trying to nip the gouramis. I am seriously thinking about taking up on Richard's offer.
