Water Evaporation?

Plants are not my main focus WD. I enjoy my NPT tanks and am finding that I am moving more in that direction every day. My ideal tank is one that only needs a water change every 6 months or so, almost never needs a filter clean and fish just thrive and breed out of control with routine feedings. I am finding that an NPT fits my definition of an ideal tank fairly well. With 26 tanks up and running with fish in them, the attention demanded by a typical high tech plant tank is simply not in the cards for me. I go low tech, or maybe it is no-tech, as a preference so that I get to go to sleep at night almost every day. I do miss sleep on a few days to bag fish for club auctions though. It is what keeps me at under 30 tanks.

I don't know how you do it OM, even at my peak I never had that many tanks. It certainly feels lucky to happen to know someone who's tried NPT and likes it. Your experiences with it have given me perspective on it. I doubt that Diana will show up at this conference but if she does I'll of course have to try and learn any of her latest ideas.

I have a Cryptocoryne wendtii that is red/brown similar to the one pictured Here. It has survived for several years but never wants to do really well so I plan to attempt to grill some of the cryptocoryne working group people about it this year. They always have a get-together during the opening registration. I think perhaps it needs more light, as many of the plants with more red do.

(apologies for the off-topic gabba)

back to the original topic, if you dont have a lid (and dont want one) - get a condensation tray - this should sit on the glass braces (if you have them) on your tank so its not visible.
