Water change technique?

I've toted heavy buckets of dirty tank water long enough

I use a large 50 foot garden hose and a syphon,I stick the end of my vac into the hose and throw it in my front/back yard (depending on the location of the tank) and away we go :kana:

For refills I use a bucket,old fashioned..yes, but it's all I know

Jeff was making fun of me the other day for how I do water changes. :*) I usually siphon the water out into a big Rubbermaid garbage can (the outdoor kind). All of my houseplants get watered from it and, in the summertime, all of my flowers get watered with it, too. The rest gets dumped in the flowerbeds beside the front porch. I fill the tanks using a 2.5 gallon pail (hence the laughing at me :X). I'm too short and wimpy to fill the tanks with a 5 gallon pail...I'd be lifting the water up to shoulder height and I'd never be able to control it well enough to not wash all my plants away. :byebye: Sometimes I do bettas with a turkey baster.

Looks like someone needs to buy someone a Python for Valentines day ;)

Ahem....Jeff?

LOL. Thanks Kirsten! :grr:

Well actually, we're getting a house together in about 5 months so if she's really really nice, I'll let her use mine instead of hauling pails.

Pfffft @ both of you!!! First of all, a Python for Valentine's Day?!? Look out Julie, you've got a real romantic on your hands!  Secondly, after that comment, I think I'll be hiding the python and hooking up Mr. Muscles with a couple of five gallon pails until you repent. :kira:

Oh I know, isn't he just the most gosh darned sweetest thing you ever saw?!  However, I must admit, though that might not be the most romantic gift, I could certainly use one... practical sometimes beats out romantic, what can I say.

As for hiding the python, I definitely think you should. :smb: "Mr. Muscles" could use the work... he might be losing some of that oh-so-gorgeous tone in the arms from lack of use! :kira: ;)
