The fluval 1 is good, filters i have now are tetratec 1000, fluval u4 internal all are great, there are smaller versions of everything, however you will want to find one with a control flow as betta splenden hate strong currents...from personal exsperience,

Has its only a little tank,i would personally opt for a hob filter,to give you more space in the tank, this one i use in my grow out tanks,and are fab filters.

not really an option as my tank his a lid with a light in it, thanks for the option though

you could still do a HOB, aquarium lids are designed to be able to use the hang on backs.. if its plastic you should be able to break a piece off.. if you know what i mean..

EDIT:: heres a pic of my 25 tall

and the only thing that takes up any room is the pipe leading into the bottom of the tank

OR, some hoods are designed as to where the back is allready totally open

heres some pix of one of my 55......

All I use are HOB's.. easier to maintain/clean etc... some people say they dont get good flow but I disagree... I have one 350 gph on my mbuna setup as of now but here in a month or so im going to purchase the same exact HOB so it will be around 700 gph. (lets say 500 gph conservitavly) on a 55.. I think thats great flow for $30 per filter...

yes i understand what u mean but this carn't be done with mine. iv'e just tried to find my tank online to show you but i carn't, its got the light in the lid so im unable to do so.
Tank is a JAD LJ-300 not even sure what litre it is, if anyone can find this tank online please leave link on here

not really its not just glass where i'd attach it either its got plastic all round the top so the lid won't fit if u know what i mean becuae i'd assume the hobs would fit on the top of the glass, bear with me and il try and find you the tank

well, its not just straight glass that the HOB fits on, all my tanks have a plastic rim. But If your tank has that kind of lid its a permenant cut that you would make... but so is the "break" in the lid of my small tank.........

when u open the lid theres like the plastic around the top of the glass around 2cm thick all around so thats why i thought i woudn't be able to use one, would i be right in saying this?

all my tanks have that plastic rim, HOB's are designed to fit over it. But if you manage to get a HOB that doesnt just grind away some of the rim (not glass)...........
