Using Branches From The Woods

Is ok to use branches that you find broken off trees if left to dry out and the bark stripped off them. I've found a really cool branch and really want to use it. I was thinking of using G4 pond sealer to maybe coat the branch to stop anything leaching out if it contains anything nasty

95% of my wood is 'found' lol. like you say, make sure it is thoroughly dried and free from all sap, not rotting at all and strip the bark and you should be fine. You will need to wedge it or weight it down though as it won't sink for a looooooong time!

if you seal it, how will it become waterlogged to sink? :unsure:

May make it a bit awkward if you want to remove it for any purpose though. Not a major job though i guess. I just weight mine down with rocks and then my big branch along the top is wedged.

Hmmm yea suppose the size of it just makes it abit awkward to boil or pre soak

That is just amazing such a beautiful scape wish I could create something like that. To have plants growing off branches like that is just amazing. If only I new more about planting and Co2.
