Won a 200w one from ebay for £25 inc p+p :) It has a bit of hard water scale build up tyep stuff on it. I seem to remember a thread very recently where someone had put theirs in vinegar to try and remove this and it didnt work as well afterwards. Did I dream this thread? Can't find it anywhere!
Is this heater designed to be fully submersible? I was thinking maybe soak some cottonwool in vinegar and push it inside and let it soak for a while?
What do you think?

if it works and is external then it wont be in the tank and not seen so dont worry about it.... just plug it in and job done :good:

Will it not affect the working of it?

if its external im not too sure why its covered in crap... having never owned one i wouldnt like to comment too much but if you cant get it off easily then i would just try it and see

It's just on the hollow tube running through the middle, where the water actually flows. It'll be ages before I get the tank up and running but I'll try it then and see how it performs :good:

Sudden random though, did you go to school in mansfield?

might be worth using a "De-scaler". like that used for coffee machines, please don't soak it. block one end and pour the cleaner in.
