Well I got sick of the algae growing on the lilaeopsis, the Rotala walichii, the Didiplis, the green sword plant and the Blue stricta was looking ugly. So I took it all out.....GOOONE!!!! HA HA HA. So now I have thin val, Mayaca, Eichhornia, riccia on log and Anubias on driftwood.

Clearly I need some new plants. So i am planning on getting both varieties of Ambulia (sessiflora and aquatica)....some Hygrophila rosanervis and perhaps try my hand at Rotala macranda again as well as Glosso for the front.

So I am not sure if I should keep the nitrates and phosphates as per the E.I. since my tank is pretty bare at the moment. I will def keep the CO2 going but opinions on the N and P would be great.

If you ensure the fast growers (Ambulia and hygro) represent at least half of the total plant bio-mass, then keeping NO3 and PO4 levels as per EI will not be a problem. Keep CO2 at 30ppm.

Plant your fast growers ASAP to avoid algae. Until then reduce your lighting.

Id agree with George AP, if you get rid of a large amount of plants and keep everything the same, lighting ferts etc without compensating for the lack of plant bio mass you do run the risk of algae outbreaks.

I would plant as quickly as you can and until then i would reduce the light, and add some fast growers if the plant biomass is lacking.
