I have 1 survivor at the moment.... he's looking fine at the moment so fingers crossed. If he survives i will name him 'Lucky'. I will be leaving him in the tank for a week and if he still looks fine i'll then put him in one of my other tanks & tatally start again on that tank!

Aww I really feel for you losing all these fish :-(

I have managed to get ick in 3 of my tanks this last few weeks due to not quarantining which I know I should. My 55 gallon is scaring me as it has quite a few fry in there and the poor little things have spots all over them. I'm raising the temp up to 86 slowly and adding the meds every 3 days but its been 2 weeks now and its still not gone but thankfully no deaths yet

I hope Lucky survives and that you can start again :flex:

That's awful, yes that's a good idea wait a week to make sure the fish isn't infected, then strip the tank down, it's a bind but it has to be done, I have just had to strip my tank down and sterlise everything as I had internal parasites, good luck.

TY Wilder.....
Touch wood so far the little Penguin Tetra seems to be doing quite well, although looking a tiny bit haggered, but that's only to be expected i suppose.
He looks like hes got a little bit of slime hanging off him. Not sure what it is unless it's just the stress he's gone through over the last few days. He's outlived a lot of fish now bless him

Thanx Joby, I wish you all the best of luck with your tank too. Hopefully 'Lucky' will be ok and he can live for a lot longer yet! I've got some more Penguin Tetras in another tank so i'm looking forward to putting him in with them when he recovers fully!

I'm really not looking forward to the clear out though!!!!!!!!

Trailing slime can be a parasite or bad water quality is the fish heavy breathing, flicking and rubbing against objects, and lethargy.

Basically yes yes yes and yes!!!!! i did a 50% wc this morning as i had the 5 fatalaties over night, all i put in was aquasafe & some melafix. The ph where i live is quite high it's @ 8. I need to do the other checks on the water though.

Update!

Well, Lucky is still alive my amazement! Although like the others had, he now has no fins and is breathing very rapidly, not eating & looking very sluggish! Something tells me he's really lonely now.... all alone in that big tank, difficult to see him half the time!
