Hi all,

Can you help?

Just doing some research and are compiling a listing on the most aggressive fishes you have in your tanks. Please seperate your listing into categories for coldwater, tropical, and marine.

1) Please rate from 1 (least aggressive) to 10 (very aggressive).
2) Please list fishes that you have owned or are owning.

Let me start this off...

Tropical
1) Kribensis (7)
2) Tiger Barb (5)
3) Dwarf Gourami (4)

Am hoping to publish a listing on compatibility based on aggression.

Kribsinvcrib :)

I don't have any aggressive fish as such but i have a big female mollie who pretty much wears the trowsers in the main tank.
In the past though when i first started out in the fish keeping hobby and didn't know much about fish i have a golden loach which grow to 5inch's and became very very aggressive as it grew in size, it killed 4platys and 3half grown mollies before i figured him out as the culprit; he only attacked other fish at night when the lights were off. He ended up dying in a long power cut which lasted a couple of days...

Oh, and he would have rated about 8/10; wasn't too bad as a little loach but as i said grew very mean as he grew in size.
I have never had tiger barbs but i have heard they aern't too bad in large groups where they can fight amoung themselves.

lol how in the world can I rate my fish when they are all some of the biggest and badest cichlids out there lol but if I had to rate the worst of my worst as they stand right now I would have to go like this

1 crenicichla sedentaria 9 hes pure psycho... doesn't even eat feeders just takes them by the tail and bashes them against the rocks until they are dead and then leaves them.
2 amphilious citrinellus this is one bad guy and F0 to boot.
3 crenicichla frenata again a F0 fish but for being tiny compaired to the midas in body mass he makes up for in attitude good thing that they couldn't even take down the divider no matter how hard they try.

  1. Fahaka Puffer (10)
  2. Tiger Botia (8) we had a trio for a month and they killed a total of 9 fish before they were passed on to someone else.
  3. Brown puffer (7) More preditory than the botias, but less aggresive.

My dwarf gouramis harrass each other from time to time. (daily) Nothing major yet (no torn fins or anything) just alot of chasing and nosing.

and my pseudotropheus saulosi used to harrass the other fish but dont seem so bad now my numbers are up. Otherwise I dont really have aggressive fish. =D

Neon Tetra - 0
Gourami - 2
Carcharodon carcharias - 10
I think you've missed the point here..

You've put Neon as one of the three most aggresive fish you have with a rating of zero? ha ha ha

Come on family members. Don't be shy. Need more ratings. The more, the better the results would be.

Once I get enough ratings, I'll get a list drawn up and post the results in the forum, and to you (if you want).

Thanks again. :)

Golden Gourami- 7(killed everything not a bottom feeder, and scared off piranahs*dont ask*)
Angel fish-5

Betta-2

APPLE SNAIL- negative 10 lol jp

Jeez, my fish are so laid back.. this is going to be hard :P

Tropical:

Tiger barbs - 4
Zebra danios - 3
Black tetras - 1

Pictus- 7 cause he sometimes just kills the feeders and leaves me to clean up the mess...

Firemouth- 2 cause he's a baby and the only thing he got upset about was cories trying to invade his little cove, either that or he just thought their eyes were shiny things to be eaten...

Bristnose- 1 just because he's pushy about getting his algae tabs sometimes...

Guppies- 1 they only bug each other and chase the little ones sometimes...

Cories- 1 because they are also pushy about tabs...

Ghost shrimp- 2 they actually grab the tabs and run, getting chased by a herd of cories and guppies...

Hmmm, my fish are pussies... meow..
