Dragon Goby 8- If anyone is in his way he ploughs throught them wiggling away

That has suprised me - I have an adult gobi dragon (about 12" long and very chunky) and he's a regular teddy bear. The rest of the fish wak (or swim) all over him and he doesn't bat an eyelid (if he had one).
My ones the brackish one which gets to aorund 20" i think evetually and he's about 8" at the moment.

he's the bossetti or something like that species(can't be bothered to search through books to finds the spelling)

Convicts 9
bristlenose 5 only when the 11 inch oscar has a go
oscar 4 only to feeders, he sucks them up so not realy mean or aggressive
kribs 4 depending on who they are kept with, were timid with the convicts but attacked the community.
sailfin plec 2 thought he'd be tougher, my apistos scare him off, but his not full grown
Apistogramma cacatuoides 2 beutiful little fish - except to the pleco

what an interesting topic. :thumbs:

To be honest none of the fish you listed previously rank above a 4 in terms of aggression, putting fish like RTBS and firemouth Cichlids in the same catagory as really aggressive fish is madness, if you were to put a firemouth in with a 8 scoring Cichlid like say a Jack Dempsy or Green Terror the FM would be dead and battered in a few minutes.

Dragon gobies shouldnt even come on the scope for being aggressive, the only things these guys can hurt are plankton as they dont have the jaw structure or power to do damage to anything else.

really, the whole list is off by the CFC standard. right now we have dwarf gouramis ranked equal to Leporinus fasciatus and a gold sucker loach thats as bad as a tank-busting arowana! somehow the system seems less than efficient...

for my tanks, anyways:

Colomesus Asellus - 4 - Doesn't like to share his food
Kribensis Pair - 3 - Found two guppies dead the last time they spawned
Bristlenose Pleco - 2 - Doesn't like to share food and fights with the Kribs over caves.

yeh it's all a bit off as we're rating them to what we have rather than other more agresive fish, what is coming out is the personalities of each of these "community fish"!!

Kribs - Normally - 5 - Breeding - 11
Angelfish - 6
Cyrtocara Moorii (blue dolphin) - 5
Firemouth - 2 - big baby
Dwarf Gourami - 5

It's also important not to confuse 'aggresive' with 'preditory'

Our largest Violet goby has huge teeth and lunges at anything that comes near, but he wouldn't ever eat anything bigger than bloodworm.
Aggresive= 8
predatory = 0

Our Chacachaca will gulp down anything that will fit in his mouth, but he dosen't chase food or bother anything too big to eat. He does nothing all day but sit and wait.
Aggresive = 0
Predatory = 10

Doesn’t matter who’s tank this ones in… the Ruby Shark (Epalzeorhynchus frenatus) is a miserable occupant. These fish will chase all others around, regardless of size, either for fun or because it’s just real grumpy…

Aggressiveness – 6
Grumpy, miserable, unsocial able - +10

Have had one about 3 years, I keep it away from my Tiger tank, as a tigers memory could be very long, so one day the Ruby Shark would become lunch if it was allowed to bully these in their early years... :lol:

Ok, I have 1 male betta, 1 dwarf catfish and 4 neon tetras in a 10 gallon tank. The neons are mean to each other! They chase each other around all day long and a couple look like someone took a little bite out of a tail fin. What is up with that??? I thought they were schooling fish? LOL! NOT!!!! They can't stand each other.

4 is not school, the reason your neons are picking on each other is that you dont have enough of them, neons should be kept in groups of ten or more.

Dwarf Puffer - 9 (killed two other DPs but likes otos)
Kissing Gourami - 7 (only after feeding usually)
White skirts - 3 (but only to each other)

Ok, thanks for the input on the neons. Do you think the 10 gallon tank can handle a few more neons? I do have good filtration and an airstone.
