This Thing They Call "vacation"

Demon, you'd be surprised at what I've managed to get away with regarding my kribs :look:
My 'pair' had fry last year, and had a boatload of babies. I just kept about half of them since they all lived together so well and I could only off so many at a time to my lfs. Then, the 'babies' had babies! So I got rid of a LOT of the kribs and now I have: the original mom and dad, with maybe five 'uncatchable' sons, and mini mom and dad and their group of kids. Big mama and little mama argue sometimes, but more than anything they stick to their own ends of the tank (new parents took half!)

synirr, I thought the same. Fingers crossed though!

Boo, you're lucky. My neighbor will check in on my Har Har, but I'd love to actually have a 'sitter'

It's official - my nightmare's coming true.

We just put an offer on a house - the seller's accepted and we're MOVING!!! :S I hate moving fish!! What I think will stress me more is moving. . . . the salt water tank. (not betta related)

But the betta guys are moving too. . . all those mahachai fry and smaras. . . eek!!

WUV - TAKE ME ON YOUR VACATION!!!

lol.

The main fact that worries me is my mom hired a 11 year old to take care of them! Ok, was going to ask TigerMan (I know him in real life), but no, my mom got to it and she "needed the money". I know TM would take waaaaaaay better care then her. :grr:

awww, Sukie. I hope it's not far! The bettas will be fine but I don't envy you having to move the salt tank!

I'm out, guys. I'm shutting down my computer in 5....4....3...

No holidays planned for me this year that I know of. I left my lot for a week last year and just put automatic feeders on for the juvies with granule foods and the adults were fine without. I did think of them while I was there but everyone was ok when I got back :D

went quite well, only one loss due to a smaragdina jumping from the tank, otherwise everyone looks great. All of my krib fry are still here too :good: My fish rock.

Sukie, I hope this isn't too late, but to make things with moving easier, you can do what my family did, except not with fish :p with a whole studio we had down the basement for my mum's business, what to do, is take possession of the new house before moving out of the old house, give a couple days in between or so, we took a week, but it really helps havign that extra time to move things out and in, rather than doing both the same day.

Just a suggestion, I hope it helps, and I hope you get everything done well for your moving!!

I am on vacation for a week next week, but only from work, not really going anywhere except camping on the weekend of next. But i have to move my office betta home, so i bought him a 2 gallon tank with a lid that has grooves on the bottom to lift him easier. but i have nowhere to put him at home! I will maybe see about getting my boyfriend to take him.

I despise vacations. My mom, who usually takes care of my pets (which in addition to my 21 bettas and 2 goldfish, includes at least 20 other mammals, birds, etc), is learning disabled and very forgetful. I have to pre-make everyone's diets, and type up daily check lists for each animal right down to no-brainers like "close the cage door." Trust me, more than once I've come home to find my cat looking into an open-lidded mouse cage because my mom forgot to replace the lid after sneaking them some treats! Needless to say, with 21 mostly special-needs bettas, half of whom are on special diets, it was very nerve-wracking to be away in Montana for a week! Not to mention that I had to lift, empty, clean, and refill 21 five gallon tanks all in one day before I left.

I'm leaving for the weekend, and leaving my mother.. (who thinks that I know nothing about fish) is in charge of my 10 pets (2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 hamster, 6 bettas) I know she can do the dogs, cat, hamster, but I'm worried about my poor fish. I'm going to go write her some instructions up, RIGHT NOW!

Quick suggestion - pill boxes are GREAT for pre-measuring out the amount of food each fish can have daily. :good:
